The Production Planning Manager manages the day-to-day tactical production control planning, scheduling, purchasing, inventory, and the flow of materials throughout the plant.

Additionally, the Production Planning Manager maintains relationships with customers, Suppliers, Logistics, etc., to ensure order fulfillment and resolve obstacles that impact customer orders and on-time delivery.

Primary Functions :

  • Provides management and administration of the plant Production Control and Integrated Business Planning functions as directed.
  • Manages assigned external resources, including supplier management. Coordinates with central Logistics, Quality, and Sourcing to resolve issues.
  • Provides forecast input for raw materials (i.e. metal, coatings, etc) to Sourcing.
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy of finished goods.
  • Supervises the receipt and control of raw material for use in production.
  • Coordinates with Order Fulfillment to resolve supply issues that are impacting customer deliveries
  • Coordinates resolution of transportation and logistics issues impacting customer deliveries
  • Manage production planning related to specific customer segments that require special administrative handling
  • Initiates, reviews, masters, and follows all manuals, policies, procedures and work instructions for area of responsibility.
  • Establishes and maintains a customer relations climate of trust and confidence that will discourage third party interference.
  • Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the departments. Includes ability to handle stress and to interact with others so as to establish and maintain a positive and productive work environment and minimize personal conflicts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understanding of Production Control and Scheduling best practices
  • Coordinate the creation and scheduling of shop orders to meet customer orders and minimum stocking requirements.
  • Production scheduling of secondary operations
  • Interact with customer base to relay feedback or inquiry with regards to order fluctuations, expected delivery, or other plant concerns.
  • Review accuracy and completion of inventory cycle counts.
  • Suggest improvement projects related to inventory storage planning, trucking optimization, or other plant needs.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology or similar technical degree preferred
  • Understanding of product lifecycle flow from shop order creation through production entry to customer shipment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office applications specifically excel and outlook.
  • Strong ERP Management skills, Preference for experience with Infor / SyteLine
  • Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills in order to direct work team.
  • Must have good command of the English language, both written and spoken, in order to read and interpret work instructions and other job-related documentation.
  • Excellent written, electronic and verbal communication skills.
