Job Purpose
Operations Engineering plays a pivotal role in ensuring system and customer reliability by conducting regular reviews and offering recommendations for system construction and maintenance activities, proposed customer load additions, and under emergency conditions.
Key Accountabilities
- Prepare engineering analyses utilizing Synergi hydraulic network software to determine the gas system’s capability to deliver gas safely and reliably to its customers under normal, peak, and contingency / emergency conditions
- Analyze Gas Capacity Requests (GCRs) to determine the ability of the gas system to supply new residential, commercial, and industrial loads
- Review System Operating Procedures (SOPs) for planned construction and maintenance activities
- Provide emergency support for Field Operations, including off-hour (on-call) coverage based on a rotating schedule
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including but not limited to Gas Control, Construction & Field Operations, Instrumentation & Regulation, and Customer Connections
- Ability to train and lead new team members through department responsibilities
Qualifications
- ABET accredited Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering discipline is required
- 4+ years of experience in an engineering role or gas industry experience is required
- EIT (Engineer-In-Training) certification is preferred
- Previous gas transmission and distribution planning experience utilizing Synergi hydraulic software, or similar, is preferred
- Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy.

Salary : $116,000 - $136,000 year
