S&ME is looking for an eager and dedicated full-time Construction Materials Engineering Technician to join our Construction Services team in Augusta, Georgia .
About the Role :
As a Construction Materials Engineering Technician , you'll join a team that values safety, integrity, and growth. While the job involves primarily outdoor work, you'll get the thrill of watching construction projects come to life and knowing you played a part in it.
Testing : Perform soil, concrete, masonry and / or asphalt testing under minimal observation of more experienced technicians and / or professionals.
Equipment : Maintain equipment in a clean and functioning manner. Maintain and calibrate equipment.
Reporting : Report testing results under minimal observation of others. Report inspection results under direct observation of others.
Plans, Specifications, and Codes : Interpret plans and specifications to identify testing frequencies and test result ranges under occasional observation of others.
Identify and interpret inspection-related items under close observation of more experienced technicians and professionals.
Inspections : Perform project or building code-related inspections, based on certifications obtained, under close observation of more experienced technicians and / or professionals.
About You :
- You have a High School diploma / GED
- You have vocational training, a plus
- You have a minimum of 2 years of experience in construction testing / inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and / or asphalt materials
- You have two(2) or more active certifications : American Concrete Institute (ACI) : Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician;
Laboratory Technician International Code Council (ICC) : Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils) DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete
- You have effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
- You have effective math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
- You can proficiently complete data entry into multiple software applications on a smart device, using Microsoft Office and email
Are You Willing and Able to :
Perform the physical demands of the position with the use of company-provide Personal Protective Equipment such as :
- Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
- Walking over rough and uneven terrain
- Standing up to 8 hours a day, up to 12 hours on occasion
- Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field / laboratory samples and equipment)
- Maneuver field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites
- Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
- Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
