Brady Corp is seeking a Sr. Lead Chemist who will be a highly influential and visible member of the Materials R&D department with responsibility for providing hands-on research expertise and leadership to advance technology platforms, develop new products through commercial launch, and support existing products within the Global Identification Solutions business ( This individual will also provide mentorship to junior R&D staff.

Technical areas of focus will be in pressure sensitive adhesives, durable inks and coatings, print receptive coatings, sensing labels, anti-counterfeit products, and other associated technologies.

What you’ll be doing :

  • Lead and supervise research projects that deliver business results.
  • Work within and / or lead multiple cross functional teams to enable new product development project success.
  • Lead various project activities through a defined stage gate process.
  • Identify & explore new technologies in material design or process for future application to Brady operations and / or target markets.
  • Design and execute experiments to evaluate and optimize the performance attributes of these technologies.
  • Understand process capability, design selection criteria, and / or structure-property relationships for developed products.
  • Develop intellectual property strategy and file patentable inventions and disclosures.
  • Assure and validate proper documentation of responsible technical and experimental activities.

What you'll need to be successful :

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical sciences or engineering.
  • Minimum relevant industrial product or process development experience : BS / MS +12 years, PhD +8 years.
  • Established track record of successful product or process development through the application of DFSS Tools.
  • Ability to drive change through influencing within and across organizational boundaries.
  • Raises the technical capabilities of others through collaboration and mentoring.
  • Familiarity with a Stage / Gate development process.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
