EES Coke Operations is a facility in River Rouge, MI on Zug Island. The plant produces coke from various types of coal blends and is then used as fuel in the blast furnaces at the steel mill.
This is not a position with Detroit Edison, it's a position with EES Coke Battery, which is a subsidiary of DTE Energy.
The position includes health, dental, vision, and prescription insurance starting day one of employment. Currently, we are offering a $2,500 signing bonus and an additional $2,500 upon successful completion of the probationary period of 1,040 hours.
This position also receives quarterly bonuses of up to $7,500 per year, based on EES Coke Batterys quality and production.
T he pay range for this position is $34.09 - $36.60 .
The person in this job will work a 12-hour rotating shift. The schedule is a 4-week rotation; you will work 14 out of 28 days with 7 days off in a row somewhere within the 4-week rotation.
Location : River Rouge, MI
Performs all maintenance functions necessary to maintain all operating and service equipment using standard and specialized tools and equipment including mobile equipment as required.
Operates equipment in conjunction with repairs and provides assistance in operating functions as necessary to maintain continuity of operations.
May work alone, with minimal supervision or with other Maintenance Technicians and coordinates and works in conjunction with operating team members in the performance of maintenance tasks.
This job has three levels (A, B, C) that an individual may progress through once the minimum experience requirement is met and the written test is passed.
The Electrician I may progress to the next level when the practical hands-on and proficiency tests have been passed. Passing the first test within a level will earn the electrician the mid-range pay rate, and the second test passed will progress the electrician to the third and highest pay rate within that level.

Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED
- A valid drivers license
- Must have 1 to 3 years of relevant experience including the following : Knowledge of basic motor starter, how to use a voltmeter to troubleshoot, understand how to read, explain, and troubleshoot a motor schematic, how to read electrical prints in general with an understanding of electrical symbols and specifications, how to check fuses, OLs, transformer, contactors, etc.

Working Conditions
- Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet and / or humid conditions, and extreme heat and cold.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and / or machinery and equipment with high temperatures
- Occasionally exposed to vibration and fumes or airborne particles which will require the use of personal protective equipment including respirators;
fire retardant clothing; self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), etc.
- Exposed to protected and unprotected heights, which requires the use of a personal fall protection system (harness / lifeline).
- The noise level in the work environment may occasionally go above the threshold, requiring PPE.
