The Release of Information (ROI) Specialist is responsible for copying and processing confidential outgoing information to be released from the organization, requesting paper records as they exist, printing electronic documents, prioritizing all incoming work types, and logging in requests utilizing ROI vendor software.

Principal Responsibilities
Utilize vendor software to record all incoming requests.
Review requests and authorizations thoroughly for HIPAA compliance.
Review all EHR systems as necessary to collect all documents for the request letter, and request as needed, itemized billing or HCFA forms from Patient Accounting, and follow request type procedures.
Gather all necessary paperwork per request and forward to EHR for scanning.
Process all correspondence work types which include subpoenas, attorney requests, record releases, insurance claims, worker' compensation claims, health / life insurance applications (APS's), federal and state DORS, and employer / loan claim disability forms.
Demonstrate professional behavior, provide customer service via phones, fax, or in person with patients, requesters and employees both within and outside the office.
Adhere to and maintain productivity standards.
Attend in-services for job enhancements as required.
Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
Provide excellent customer service and adhere to SC Way customer service philosophy.
Perform other job duties as assigned.
Education / Experience
High School graduate or GED required.
Prior medical record experience preferred.
Previous clerical experience and typing skills required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to work under high stress conditions.
Analytical nature and organizational skills are essential to the successful candidate.
Working Environment
Operates in a professional office environment.
Flexible hours required as schedule demands.
Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
