A successful Corporate Tax Staff Accountant requires a basic knowledge of tax and accounting, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prepare deliverables within deadlines.
This role is primarily responsible for day-to-day state and local tax work, compiling and analyzing information in excel and special projects.
This role is managed by the Senior Tax Manager and is a part of the Corporate Accounting team.
Roles & Responsibilities :
Key Functions :
- Assist with preparation of state and local income tax workpapers, sales & use tax analysis (where applicable), property tax payments and assessment review, as well as other miscellaneous tax items
- Assist with maintaining and enhancing state and local tax processes
- Assist with state and local tax audits
- Assist with maintaining exemption certificates
- Assist with tax research and analyses
- Assist with maintaining of tax calendar and tracking of tax inquiries
- Assist with reconciliation and roll forward of financial statement tax accounts such as the accruals for real estate, GST, and income tax
- Compiling data for tax submissions to various taxing authorities
- Ensure compliance with internal controls
- Build strong relationships with internal customers to become a trusted business partner
- Other duties or tasks as assigned

Basic Qualifications :
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step;
or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience in state corporate taxation
Preferred Qualifications :
- Not-for-profit experience
- Government Contracting experience
- Experience with Costpoint
