Job Summary
Performs patient care and treatment activities on an ambulance and demonstrates clinical competencies necessary to perform patient care functions as assigned to this position.
Performance : Position Specific Essential Functions
- Responsible for safe handling of patent transport during loading and unloading, transport on stretcher, and actual transport on the ambulance.
- Maintain the ambulance in a clean, organized and response ready mode.
- When assigned as an Operator / Driver, will be responsible to always operate the assigned ambulance under control and in accordance with federal, state and local laws that govern ambulance operation, and in accordance with approved company policy and safe and efficient ambulance operation.
- Conducts an on-going assessment of patients clinical statics and utilizes the assessment information to plan and implement appropriate care and treatment of patients in accordance with department protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform care for patients of all age ranges.
- Assumes responsibility for preventing incidents that could lead to injury, promptly reports unsafe conditions that require actions from others, promptly reports incidents and completes paperwork, and consistently utilizes equipment properly.
- Administers medications in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of medications administered including normal dosages, side effects and expected outcomes. Documents according to policy and utilizes tools and resources to supplement knowledge.
