Job Summary
Establish and implement policies, procedures and budget for the operation of all DMACC libraries. Serves as system administrator for ILS and electronic resources.
Supervises all library employees.
Essential Functions
- Direct all facets of the library operations including budgeting, customer service, and collection development.
- Coordinates assessment efforts across all library sites.
- Consult with deans and faculty to provide library resources to all campuses and remote users.
- Provide direction for library policies, procedures and library resources.
- Facilitate resolving issues that arise on all campuses regarding policies, personnel and facilities.
- Provide long-range planning for all libraries.
- Plans and administers budget, contracts with vendors and publishers for services and resources.
- Plan and facilitate training and implementation of library software.
- Serve as systems administrator for libraries shared system.
- Provide direction for the development and maintenance of the library web page.
- Market library services and resources; coordinate the development and delivery of in-services, orientations and workshops for students, faculty and staff and community.
- Represent libraries on a variety of committees and initiatives.
- Coordinate and direct the teaching of credit library classes and maintain the course competencies.
- Compile statistics annually for the Integrated Post-Secondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and national surveys on library resources and usage.
- Supervise and schedule departmental staff, recommend personnel actions related to hiring, performance evaluations, training, leaves, discipline, grievances, work schedules and assignments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Library and Information Sciences or its equivalent from an ALA accredited institution.
- Four years of related work experience.
- Knowledge of computerized libraries used in providing online services.
- Understanding of Web server applications.
- Knowledge of various forms of multimedia applications and their integration in multiple forms of instruction modalities.
- Ability to promote and develop instructional and training materials using print, multimedia and interactive web-based formats.
- Demonstrated competency in budget planning and management.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to plan, organize and manage time.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide large number of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of current software applications.
