Strategy, Planning, and Operations leads and manages a large and complex portfolio of IT projects and programs while establishing partnerships and stakeholder engagement efforts with students, faculty, staff, and external partners on behalf of the IT organization.

The Strategy, Planning, and Operations Office also manages organizational initiatives and efforts, including general administrative functions, financial management and budgeting, vendor management and licensing, billing, internal communications, department human resources, talent management, and culture development.

The Bruin Connect & Secure program will ensure the campus enterprise leverages industry best-practices to strengthen and unify our campus networks and to improve our information security practices.

The program will enable a unified, secure and scalable infrastructure that provides a seamless and consistent performance for our community.

Position Summary

The Lead Organizational Change Management (OCM) Specialist, Bruin Connect & Secure defines, frames, and structures organizational change management strategies for large, significant, and complex initiatives, assuring the consistent application of OCM process, policy, and execution throughout initiatives and / or programs.

This Lead OCM Specialist coordinates change activities and a small team of change practitioners throughout various types of projects / initiatives, including system implementations, business transformations, system updates, and more.

This individual guides stakeholders and customers through change processes and provides them with an understanding of benefits and risks.

Additionally, this Senior Specialist fosters innovation in business processes and smooth current-to-future state transitions for all stakeholders with focused strategies to achieve maximum adoption and utilization.

They partner with the OCM Director and project or program managers to ensure that OCM objectives are supportive of and integrated with overall project plans and that they are achieved on time and within budget.

They also work with project leadership to develop and sponsor change advocate coalitions. The Lead Organizational Change Management Specialist will positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by enabling university stakeholders to adopt improvements and changes to technology and business processes in service of the institution's academic mission.

This team member will advance the university's mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students.

This role will execute UCLA's vision while modeling UCLA's culture and values.

Salary & Compensation

UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years experience working in one or more of the following fields : organizational change management, strategic communications, information technology, or another related field. (Required)
  • Expertise in change management methodologies, principles, and best practices. Experience leading change management initiatives for large, complex IT projects. (Required)
  • Experience working in a project-based environment using leading project management practices including schedule management, status reporting, and communication of project risks and issues. (Required)
  • Experience participating in activities to advance an inclusive environment that values equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. (Required)
  • Seven or more years experience working in one or more of the following fields : organizational change management, strategic communications, information technology, or another related field. (Preferred)
  • Foundational knowledge of IT best practices. Demonstrates superior change management analytical, problem-solving, project planning and implementation skills. (Required)
  • Knowledge of the organizational environment of higher education and large research universities to understand stakeholder priorities, issues, motivations and constraints. (Required)
  • Possesses superior consulting, relationship building, and strategic thinking skills. (Required)
  • Demonstrates ability to learn quickly, reason, synthesize and generalize based on information obtained; sound judgment;

ability to draw unbiased conclusions. (Required)

Ability to facilitate and influence people at all levels. Ability to persuade through both logic and appeal to positive motivations.

Ability to handle multiple constituencies, agendas, engagements and tasks, and to deal productively with ambiguity and conflict. (Required)

  • Highly-skilled in navigating organizational complexity. Ability to manage and schedule small to large multiple projects. (Required)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and is able to communicate complex technical ideas to a diverse community of colleagues and stakeholders.

Can relay technical information to audiences of technical and non-technical stakeholders. (Required)

  • Able to establish and advance positive working relationships and a strong rapport with a diverse community of colleagues including team members, stakeholders, and customers. (Required)
  • Advanced organizational skills and is able to balance competing priorities and deliver concurrent projects to various stakeholder types (Required)
  • Advanced problem-solving skills; ability to uncover root of difficult problems and scope solutions based on knowledge of available resources and timelines as well as awareness of vision and strategy.

Seeks information from multiple and diverse sources to inform solutions. (Required)

  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions with integrity. (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  • Bachelor's Degree in one or more of the following fields : business administration, organization development, communication, public administration, or another related field, or equivalent experience / training. (Required)
  • Prosci Certified Change Practitioner (Preferred)

Special Conditions for Employment

This is a two year contract appointment. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that includes regular visits to campus as needed (for those who work remotely, travel / lodging expenses are not eligible for reimbursement).

The anticipated pay range for this position is $110,000-$120,000, annually; salary is dependent upon the skills and experience of the selected finalist.

8 : 00 A.M. to 5 : 00 P.M. PT, Monday through Friday and / or variable based upon operational needs.
