The Department of Parks, Recreation, Exercise and Sport Science is a multidisciplinary department consisting of undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the fields of Exercise and Sport Science, Recreation and Park Administration, and Sports Management.

The BS in Exercise and Sport Science is divided into concentrations focusing on pre-professional healthcare, including Pre-Athletic Training and Pre-Physical Therapy, as well as Physical Fitness and Wellness Management.

Graduates of PRESS degree programs are prepared through didactic, laboratory and experiential learning with a heavy emphasis on servant leadership that uniquely distinguishes them in future professional pursuits.

The department is housed in the College of Health Sciences allowing for inter-professional collaborations with nursing, occupational therapy, health services administration, public health, medical lab sciences and other health-related students and faculty.

Job Summary / Basic Functions

Will provide course instruction for departmental courses in alignment with individual's area of proficiency and / or expertise.

Courses may be in the area of sports management, pre-professional healthcare (pre-athletic training or physical therapy), exercise and wellness, fitness, or specific activities courses.

Preferred Qualifications :

For activities courses : Individuals must have the minimum qualifications and appropriate instructor certifications / experience to teach various activity courses within the department or significant experience to demonstrate expertise.

For teaching core courses : Individuals will need a minimum of a masters degree in Exercise and Sport Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education or related field to teach undergraduate courses of significant experience to demonstrate expertise.

Individuals will need a terminal degree in the discipline to teach graduate level courses or a masters degree and significant experience to determine expertise.
