Job Description

We currently have an opportunity for a Counsel to join our US Corporate Legal team in our Plymouth, MN office. This position is responsible for providing broad-based corporate legal support to Intact Insurance Specialty Solutions and managing routine and complex legal, transactional and insurance regulatory matters.

Responsibilities :

• Provide broad-based legal and compliance support to Intacts US business units and corporate functions, working closely with business leaders to provide practical, risk-based, legal advice and compliance solutions.
• Advise on a broad range of routine, non-routine and complex business, legal, and regulatory matters, including contracts, governance, insurance regulatory compliance, financial reporting, reinsurance, information technology, corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, non-claims litigation, data privacy and cybersecurity, and other matters.
• Provide legal advice with respect to strategic, cross-functional and / or cross-border legal and compliance projects, as assigned.
• Assist in developing, implementing and continually improving processes and procedures to increase scalability and efficiency of the team.
• Deploy strong, mature legal judgment, interpersonal skills and influence to build effective working relationships with legal and business colleagues.

Requirements :

• from an accredited law school and an excellent academic background. Current attorney license in good standing.
• At least 5 years of practice in corporate law, preferably with law firm experience as well as in-house experience.
• Proven negotiation, drafting and analytical skills for various types of transactions and contracts.
• Knowledge of and experience with insurance-related financial and compliance regulations is a plus.
• Polished oral and written communication skills and ability to interact comfortably with colleagues at all levels in the organization.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a highly collaborative member of a team in a fast paced and rapidly changing

Education and Experience :

Bar admission required and 5-7 years of experience preferably with three or more in the insurance industry.

Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience and skillset of the candidate. The following ranges displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires, but your recruiter will share more specific compensation information with you during the hiring process.

The typical base salary range for this position is : $125,000 $176,000, based on the factors aforementioned. For candidates located in San Francisco, CA;

Hoboken, NJ; and the New York City metro area, the base salary range is $157,000 -$184,000. In addition to base salary, full time Intact employees are also eligible for bonus potential and a full range of benefits to include : 401(k) savings and annual contributions of up to 12% of annual salary, competitive paid time off programs, medical, vision and dental plans, mental health support programs, life and disability insurance, paid parental leave and a variety of voluntary benefits.
