Job Title : Director of Operations - ARC Colorado, Inc.

Department : Manufacturing Operations

Reports To : General Manager

FLSA Status : Exempt

Pay Range : $90K - $150K (DOE)

Job Description

The Operations Director will lead and manage operational execution for all production, scheduling, and manufacturing support for 200 people across a 3 shift manufacturing operation.

Will develop strategies to achieve operational objectives for daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics including Safety, Sales, Productivity, Scrap, Cost Management, and Net Income.

These objectives are achieved via teamwork with cross-functional departments and motivating the production workforce. The position demands strong organizational, excellent leadership, effective communication and team building skills, as this person will interface with all levels of the organization.

This person must have a focus on customer communication and relationships. Have the ability to develop innovative solutions that push boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior managers in the development of company performance goals and long-term operational plans. Flow down company team goals and objectives into actionable programs and initiatives.
  • Maximize efficiency and productivity through and interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Work with the senior management team in the development of financial and budgetary plans.
  • Analyze current operational processes and performance, recommending solutions for improvement where necessary and work with the team on solutions.
  • Support and collaborate with the Engineering team on new product development projects to ensure that the process is effective and supports the production requirements of the customer.
  • Act as a role model and sponsor of safety. Ensure employees are adhering to all safety policies and feel empowered to raise any safety concerns.
  • Coordinate efforts of immediate staff with EH&S support and other resources as required to continually improve safety performance.
  • Drive site lean continuous improvement or 6S initiatives and ensure that the site meets pre-established targets for improvement in the areas of sort, set-in-order, shine, sustain, standardize, and safety.
  • Manage the department budgets and takes ownership of exceeding daily performance targets. Drive key performance indicators (Safety, Quality, OTD, and Cost).

When misses occur, develop a credible recovery plan, and deploy resources to address gaps.

Ensure department employees are properly trained in applicable work instructions and work is being performed to procedure.

Coordinate efforts of staff with Engineering and other resources to modify work instructions as required to continually improve in areas of process control, safety, quality, yield, throughput, and cost.

  • Communicate with direct reports so that all goals, expectations, and performance against plans are well understood. Encourage employee participation and involvement to foster teamwork, ownership, and employee satisfaction.
  • Develop supervisory staff to perform at increasingly higher levels and to accept broader responsibilities through coaching and training in leadership, teambuilding, and other applicable subjects like lean manufacturing.
  • Ensure equipment and facilities are properly maintained to minimize downtime and to maximize throughput opportunity.
  • Identify capital requirements to meet company goals and objectives. Coordinate efforts of resources (Staff, Finance, Maintenance, and Engineering) to develop capital authorization requests for submission.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews, provide feedback to employees, and enforce company policies in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Champion continuous improvement meetings and events to ensure all staff are supporting a culture and mindset of continuous growth within the business.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes to provide visibility into the goals, progress, and obstacles of key initiatives.
  • Draw on relationships with department heads, external suppliers, and vendors to make decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals.
  • Devise strategies for ensuring the growth of people, processes, and programs.
  • Adhere to the company's policies and standards and ensure that laws and regulations are being followed.
  • Work closely with Human Resources and executive leadership to lead the team with integrity and to and maintain the company culture, core values, mission and vision.

Skills and qualifications

  • Ability to lead a team of salary and hourly employees towards a target or objective, establish key milestones and progress checks along the way. .
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, relentlessly execute and deliver results in conformance with action plans.
  • Ability to apply lean manufacturing methodology, theory of constraints, and problem-solving skills to drive the business improvements in a metric-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations and priorities.
  • Knowledge of ERP / MRP systems and use to manage supply chain, parts, tooling, production, shipping / receiving of products.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering and manufacturing including communication techniques, production procedures, and resources relevant to the production products.
  • Knowledge of management principles involved in strategic planning and forecasting including people, material, and equipment resource allocation;

corporate and human resource policies and benefits; leadership and teaming; and production methods.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Masterful organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of multiple operational functions and principles, including finance, customer service, planning, purchasing, production, and employee management.
  • Proven ability to plan and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity.
  • Ability to streamline or implement structures and roles that boost speed and efficiency while supporting rapidly shifting business demands.
  • Strong working knowledge of industry regulations and legal guidelines.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems.
  • A drive for innovation that pushes boundaries.

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business or an engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years related experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience.

Must be US Citizen as site is Export Compliant and ITAR regulated.
