Job Description :

Under the direction of physicians, the Physician Assistant (PA) provides health care and performs selective medical services.

Job Duties :

• Competently assesses, diagnoses and treats patients.
• Assists physicians by maximizing patient volume, monitoring and contacting high risk patients, returning patient calls in a timely manner, and providing follow up on diagnostic test results.
• Develops with the patient and / or caregivers, a mutually acceptable cost-aware plan of care that maximizes health potential.

Formulates a treatment plan which includes ordering diagnostic tests, selecting appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, develops a patient education plan, and obtains appropriate consultation or referral.

Consults with physician appropriately regarding patient care issues and concerns.

• Demonstrates productivity and initiative by organizing patient care, delegating to appropriate staff, prioritizing workload and seeking opportunities to improve clinical processes and staff / patient education.
• Demonstrates professionalism by articulating and demonstrating professional behavior, accepting responsibility and accountability for actions, adhering to policies and procedures, demonstrating leadership and supporting Meritas initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Graduation from an accredited physician assistant program.
• Licensed by the State of Missouri as a Physician Assistant
• 2 years experience as PA in clinic specialty, strongly preferred
• PA-C from NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) from AHA (American Heart Association)
• ACLS (Advance Cardiac Life Support) from AHA (American Heart Association)
• Proficiency with electronic health records and database management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
