Principal Architect
The Principal Architect position is an execution-oriented, agile-minded, cloud focused evangelist of architecture as a means of accelerating time to market, increasing productivity and responding to changes with fast, well-informed and data driven decisions.
He / she will have the ability to understand and view the bigger picture with an understanding of enterprise systems and architecture patterns with a strong engineering mindset who can drive architecture and technology strategy.
He / she is a dynamic technologist who loves solving complex business challenges and can connect the dots between systems and data.
This role will be at the forefront of driving Shake Shack's aggressive growth agenda where being able to balance proven architectural methodologies and principles with taking calculated risks for the sake of an optimized Guest Experience will be a necessity.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and communicate enterprise architectural vision and principles aligned with strategic business goals to various audiences such as : Directors, VPs, PMO, and Executive Team Members.
- Own and maintain current and target state architectures across Business, Information, Application, Data and Technology domains.
- Identify new technology, processes, and integrations that help unlock capabilities across the Guest and Operator experiences.
- Evaluate and select technologies, tools, and vendors to execute on Shake Shack's current and future state roadmaps.
- Participate in analysis and POCs for new technology innovation, exploring the potential for improving our technology, efficiency, and profitability of the company.
- Manage, build, and mentor a team of FTE and vendor resources to achieve business and personal career goals.
Qualifications
- 10+ years related experience.
- Prior experience working in eCommerce, QSR, Retail, Hospitality fields as Solution or Enterprise architecture focused on Consumer Facing (B2C) Channels.
- Hands-on engineering and prototyping experience within Mobile, Data, Web or Cloud Infrastructure solutions.
- Understanding of architecture patterns, principles, and best practices for Microservices / API, Streaming / Eventing, Integration, High Availability, Cloud, Security, DevOps, and Data.
- Experience hiring, developing, and leading internal & external software engineering teams across Mobile, Web, Data, and Cloud Infrastructure products.
- Demonstrated Agile practice background.
- Experience managing 3rd party vendors onshore, nearshore, and offshore.
- Experience in building multi-tier SOA architecture using OOD : iOS Development - Swift, Android Development, JavaScript etc.
- Experience in building / improving scalable and secure platforms using AWS Serverless Technologies.
- Experience with market leading iPaaS, building Integration platforms between Digital Systems and Store Systems.
- Architecture related experience with enterprise systems is preferred.
- Successful track record of collaborating IT and business in cross-functional teams across different areas of the company.
- Hands-on experience in modern software engineering and architecture design.
- History of taking smart, calculated risks and aggressively leading through change.
- Experience growing an internal team of full-time employees.
- Ability to communicate modern and legacy engineering strategy to senior technology members and executive team members.
- Demonstrated ability to implement forward-looking innovative software engineering solutions to drive business value leveraging modern design principles.
- Experience in designing data integrations working in complex data environments.
- Nice to have Hands-on experience in J2EE using Spring Boot or similar enterprise-level frameworks.
