Position Overview

The IT Director of Business Applications is responsible for leading our Business Applications Managers in optimizing and enhancing the suite of applications critical to our business operations.

This role will be responsible for overseeing the managers that implement, customize, and maintain various software solutions to support our organizational needs.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of business experience, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to drive innovation and efficiency in our business processes.

Job Classification : The IT Director of Business Applications is an exempt full-time employee position.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

  • Oversees team managers.
  • The position reports to the Information Technology Director.

This position will report to our Kent, Ohio corporate campus daily . Our campus is located at 1500 N. Mantua St. Kent, Ohio 44240.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Application Strategy and Roadmap
  • Develop and maintain a strategic roadmap for the organizations' suite of business applications, aligned with business objectives and technology trends.
  • Collaborate with senior management and key stakeholders to define priorities, evaluate new technologies, and make informed decisions about application investments.
  • Application Lifecycle Management
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of business applications, from evaluation and selection to implementation, customization, and ongoing support.
  • Lead the planning and execution of application upgrades, migrations, and integrations, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Manage assignment of resources to projects.
  • Monitor and evaluate progress and effect change in execution when necessary.
  • Collaborates with Organizational Change Management Teams on all application and process changes for effective people readiness.
  • Manage vendor relationship and contracts, negotiate terms, and ensure compliance with service level agreements.
  • Team Leadership and Development
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a team of application analysts, specialists and developers.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team, promoting continuous learning and professional development.
  • Set clear goals and objectives for team members and provide regular feedback and performance evaluations.
  • Prepares departmental spending plans.
  • Track departmental spending and project budgets.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Continued

  • Business Process Analysis and Optimization
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs, challenges, and pain points, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of existing business processes and workflows and recommend solutions to streamline operations and increase efficiency.
  • Drive the adoption of best practices and standardization across business applications to ensure consistency and scalability.
  • Application Support and Maintenance
  • Ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of business applications through proactive monitoring and maintenance activities.
  • Manage incident and change management processes, and coordinate with IT support teams to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Develop and implement procedures for system backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field is preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in a leadership role, managing business applications in a complex organizational environment.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise applications, such as ERP, CRM, HRIS, and BI tools, and experience with implementation and customization.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies, agile principles
  • Proficiency in project portfolio management tools and software, such as Microsoft Project, or JIRA.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
