As part of the High School Relations team, the Director of Secondary Career & Technical Education will manage the college’s Secondary Career Center, which supports the enrollment of high school students in career and technical education (CTE) courses offered by the college.

This role is pivotal in fostering partnerships with high schools and ensuring students receive a high-quality educational experience.

Job Responsibilities

Provide daily management of the Secondary Career Center (SCC) Education Programs funded by the Office of Skills Development (OSD) and oversee general concurrent CTE courses, including faculty hiring, supervision, support, course scheduling, stakeholder communications, and budgeting.

Collaborate with the AVP of Workforce and content experts to identify and approve faculty, secure classroom spaces, purchase necessary equipment, and develop the annual master schedule.

Ensure the accuracy of grades and student data by working closely with SCC faculty.

Serve as the primary point of contact for budgeting, curriculum development, program management, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Attend regional CTE advisory meetings and participate in NWA Educational Cooperative Monthly Board Meetings alongside the Executive Director.

Ensure compliance with all Higher Learning Commission, Arkansas Career Education, and NACEP rules and regulations.

Assist in the creation and updating of articulation / MOU agreements with K-12 institutions and NWACC divisions / departments.

Coordinate and award the Northwest Arkansas Regional Career and Technical Leadership Award in collaboration with area school districts.

Support NACEP faculty liaisons and manage accreditation paperwork in conjunction with the appropriate workforce department.

Oversee state and accreditation paperwork required for awarding concurrent credit (Arkansas Department of Higher Education and National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships).

Complete paperwork for specialized training programs and clinical facility agreements for high school students in collaboration with the AVP of Workforce and the relevant Dean.

Submit all required state reports for the Secondary Career Center.

Help plan annual events for community and high school partners.

Work closely with the High School Relations team to support the overall vision for high school programs.

Regular, reliable attendance is essential, along with the ability to foster collegial and harmonious working relationships.

Additional related duties may be assigned as needed.

Rate of Pay : $58,757 annualized

Ability to effectively lead and support faculty in delivering high-quality technical education programs.

Experience in managing diverse teams, resolving conflicts, and fostering a collaborative environment.

Skills in mentorship and providing constructive feedback to faculty and staff.

Strong understanding of career and technical education (CTE) frameworks, standards, and curriculum design.

Familiarity with dual enrollment / concurrent programs and the specific needs of high school students in these programs.

Competence in scheduling, resource allocation, and budgeting for educational programs.

Knowledge of accreditation processes and compliance with relevant state and federal regulations, including NACEP standards.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication

Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with school districts, industry partners, faculty, and students.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal, to articulate program goals, updates, and challenges.

Capacity to coordinate with external stakeholders such as parents, high school counselors, and industry leaders to strengthen the program.

Curriculum & Instructional Design

Proficiency in designing and aligning CTE curricula with industry needs and high school learning outcomes.

Expertise in integrating technical skills training with academic content to meet the demands of modern workplaces.

Experience in using technology and hands-on learning tools to enhance student engagement and skill development.

Data-Driven Decision Making :

Ability to analyze program data, including student outcomes and industry trends, to inform decisions and improvements.

Proficiency in tracking student progress, program effectiveness, and faculty performance through data metrics.

Marketing & Outreach

Strong marketing and outreach skills to promote CTE programs to prospective students, parents, and school administrators.

Experience in developing marketing campaigns, using social media, and creating promotional materials (e.g., brochures, videos, newsletters).

Capability to host outreach events, open houses, or tours that showcase the value of technical education to students and the community.

Industry Knowledge & Connections

In-depth knowledge of the technical industries aligned with the CTE programs, such as manufacturing, healthcare, IT, etc.

Strong network of industry partners for internships, job placements, and program advisory boards.

Required Education

A Master’s degree in Higher Education, Career and Technical Education, Counseling, Business Administration, Social Work, Student Affairs, Public Administration, or a related field is preferred.

Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with six years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree.

A minimum of two years of relevant work experience is required.

Required Work Experience

Experience working in a higher education / Career and Technical Education / vocational / technical training environment.

Relative management experience including staff supervision.
