GENERAL SUMMARY / OVERVIEW STATEMENT : Under the direction of the Educational Administrator, and under the daily supervision of the Team Leader, the Per Diem Special Education Teacher will provide instruction to students with a variety of learning needs in a therapeutic and individualized learning environment, adapting and modifying curriculum as needed.

With the support of the Team Leader, the Per Diem Special Education Teacher will provide coverage for absent teaching staff and will perform other duties as assigned by the Educational Administrator or Co-Director.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Supervises classroom staff and students in classrooms and milieu
  • Follows student IEP accommodations and assists students in working toward goals
  • Adapts, modifies, and implements curriculum to meet student needs
  • Follows Massachusetts State Curriculum Frameworks
  • Works cooperatively with clinical staff to problem-solve, address student needs
  • Supports student access to sensory diets throughout day
  • Provides social pragmatic supports to students throughout day
  • Assists students with social-emotional processing as needed
  • Supports students during nonacademic periods such as lunch and sensory breaks
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS :

Massachusetts certification in Special Education or Elementary Education or current enrollment in a licensure program (to meet emergency licensure or waiver requirements).

SKILLS / ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES REQUIRED :

Flexibility, team-oriented, problem-solving with strong therapeutic classroom skills

Ability to effectively teach and support students with diverse learning needs

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :

Candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology, or a related field

WORKING CONDITIONS : Therapeutic school environment working with students with Neurodevelopmental Disorders
