POSITION SUMMARY :

Gain people manager experience and grow your career within the National Accounts Team by developing a strong team of sales professionals calling on USG’s LARGEST customer (Home Depot) and other home center customer bases including Lowe’s and Menards.

Ensure that the regional sales team is driving sales of new and existing products, increasing USG visibility with all levels of store management and their customer base, leading promotional events, and executing USG retail initiatives.

Position reports to National Account Manager, Retail.

Candidate location is at the sole discretion of the hiring manager to provide appropriate coverage and support and balance accounts with the National Accounts Retail enterprise.

This position MUST be based in the western region of the US.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure consistent quality and service to the home center customer base by managing the assigned Retail Sales team within the Region.
  • Direct the team’s effectiveness in organizing and executing product demonstrations for new and existing products for home center employees, as well as end-users.
  • Travel quarterly with assigned individuals on assigned sales team.
  • Manage big box customer account projects such as pro-desk, disaster response.
  • Facilitate the team’s ability to negotiate with store management for best product placement to support job-lot quantities of contractor driven products and to support featured SKUs / products.
  • Use reporting tools available to monitor and evaluate inventory levels of stores within the region and provide guidance to sales team when need to generate purchase orders and maintaining adequate inventory of all USG stocked products.

i.e. Salesforce and USG Answers).

  • Meet with store, District and Regional Managers regularly to discuss :
  • Current USG initiatives to support store and regional sales growth.
  • Provide information on market conditions that will enable each store to react quickly to their professional customer’s product needs.
  • The opportunity to discuss individual store and district issues that would prove cost and time savings :
  • Shrink control, inventory management, product training, upcoming customer events, product promotions, etc.
  • Continuously evaluate regions’ competitive situations and develop plan of action for sales team with perseverance and integrity and still maintaining the focus of driving USG category sales.
  • Lead team calls to ensure optimal position and growth within assigned markets.
  • Collaborate with internal experts on escalated / non-routine customer requests.
  • Attend and actively contribute to regular meetings related to effective service position, such as : customer service, marketing, supply chain / logistics
  • Administrative Responsibilities : Monthly reports and regional specific projects : Communication information on territory success : training events, new store openings, gathering and analyzing market intelligences.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Significant knowledge of USG’s product portfolio, may include wallboard, joint treatment, ceilings & backerboards.
  • Ability to perform data analysis and make informed recommendations related to customers and products with greatest opportunity
  • Self-starter with strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency required in core programs including MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Salesforce.com
  • Focused on continuous learning to drive individual and team performance
  • Analytical skills to assess trends in the business and identify methods for improving results
  • Proven Sales Professional with a track record of success
  • Proven ability to build relationships, an adept networker
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with various stakeholders, internal and external
  • Strong coaching, management, and leadership skills and ability to develop a team of entry level sale professionals; developing and managing team members to high performance
  • Excellent customer service
  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills to increase USG’s market position.
  • Preferred

o Four-year sales experience, sales experience calling on home center customer base (Home Depot, Lowe’s Menards) a plus.

o People management experience a plus.

Education and Related Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field.
  • Three years building material’s industry experience.

Physical Demands and Other Requirements

  • Ability to operate a Fleet vehicle (valid driver’s license required)
  • Travel within assigned geography, approximately 40%
  • Some nights and weekend work required within primary market based on customer needs

Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
