What You'll Do :
The Adjutant General's Department is looking for an experienced Project Manager 1 professional. Successful candidates will have knowledge and safety practices pertaining to project management :
- Manages full life cycle of multiple new construction and capital improvement projects through project inception, detailed scoping, resourcing, design, execution, closeout, and warranty management
- Coordinates within the agency and with external stakeholders both State and Federal to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations
- Meets and coordinates the input of all stakeholders to ensure the project complies with end user and owner needs
- Documents project development, finances, and execution through State of Ohio software OAKS-CI*
- Serves as the primary agency point of contact for project details to the public, other State agencies, the Federal Government, and the legislature
- Assists in the selection of the project delivery method and coordinates / oversees the acquisition of qualified architects, engineers and contractors for design, construction, and related services (e.
g. commissioning, testing, inspection, balancing, project administration, compliance)
- Coordinates / oversees the public bidding and contract award process
- Negotiates fee and technical proposals and evaluates pricing
- Manages performance and monitors contractor progress through review and approval of invoices, order changes, project costs, and submittals
- Facilitates contract scope, incentives, and options for corrective action
- Coordinates and provides direction to mitigate or resolve design and construction problems during all project phases
- Attends internal and external meetings, conferences, workshops, trainings and pursues related topics and continuing education opportunities
- Performs other related duties as assigned (e.g., travels to attend meetings, conferences, and trainings; operates personal computer to produce correspondence, reports, and other documents, maintains logs, records, and files)
The following are the minimum qualifications for this position. For further consideration, applicants must clearly identify how qualifications are met within the education and / or experience sections of the applications.
The ideal candidate, at minimum, must meet one of the following options.
Option 1
3 yrs. exp. in project management (i.e., management & development of project / program requirements, design, development, testing / pilot, training & full scale implementation), with experience to be commensurate with project / program & / or position description on file (e.
g., specific human service program area, management information sciences, fiscal)
12 mos. exp. in budgeting & calculating cost projections of program / projects.
Option 2
- Successful completion of 2 yrs. post-secondary education majoring in business administration, public administration, computer science / information technology, social science, or health, with major being commensurate with project to be assigned
- 12 mos. exp. in budgeting & calculating cost projections of program / projects
Option 3
Equivalent evidence of the minimum class qualifications noted above.

The candidate selected for this position would be expected to possess the following characteristics to perform the essential duties of the job :

time management; matrix management; public relations; interviewing; market trends; supervisory / management techniques*.
Skill in operation of personal computer & applicable software (e.g., Gantt chart / project planning software, presentation software, spreadsheet applications)*
Ability to manage multiple demands or tasks on projects or programs; solve problems involving several variables in unique situations;
review & evaluate project progress; develop & deliver presentations; communicate effectively on project information in a team setting.
This position is assigned as an 15 of the State of Ohio's E1 pay schedule. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary shall be the minimum salary of that pay range unless the selected candidates exceeds the minimum qualifications which shall be considered.
The salary range provides a standardized pathway for salary increases. With continued employment and satisfactory performance, new hires advance to the next step of pay range after 6 months and annually thereafter.
Cost of living adjustments usually occur at the beginning of the fiscal year (July 1). The current step progression wages are in the table below.
