Position Summary : The goal of this full-time internship is to capture stories and create marketing materials to help the organization build awareness and share the impacts of our work with Milwaukee.
This position will experience the nuts and bolts of a dynamic, fast-growing nonprofit organization and will be responsible for documenting and photographing our summer activities including summer camps, field research, community programs, green building maintenance and more.
This position may work remotely but will require spending time indoor and outdoor at Riverside Park, Menomonee Valley and Washington Park branches as well.
Qualifications : High school diploma or GED and some college course work in photography, journalism, marketing, digital storytelling or another related field are required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are needed. Applicants should have digital photography experience; social media familiarity (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter);
competency with computers, audio-visual systems, printers and copiers; and be well organized with attention to detail. Prior experience with blogging and video production preferred.
Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.
Primary Responsibilities
Find, capture and create stories (photographic, video, written, and / or digital) about the activities going on at the Urban Ecology Centers three branches during the summer.
Its a very active time; there will be lots to document!
- Photograph and film summer camps, volunteer programs, community science field research, community programs and other activities happening.
- Publish engaging content to the social media channels and possibly to the Urban Ecology Centers blog. May require creating, soliciting and editing written content, photojournalistic stories or videos.
- Edit and organize digital assets including photographs, written stories or videos.
Internship duration : June 6, 2022 to August 26, 2022. This position requires 40 hours per week and will be required to take 5 unpaid days off during this time frame.
Compensation : $12.00 per hour
