The primary purpose of the Project Manager / Scrum Master is to ensure that the team and associate scrum masters are actively following the guidelines of Scrum and Agile to achieve business objectives within Information Technology products / efforts / delivery teams.

Dimensions

  • Responsible for three to seven products or services
  • Low up to moderate complex product development and services
  • Oversee and participate in business analysis and organizational change management
  • Support and educate the Product Owner, especially with respect to refinement and maintaining the product backlog and prioritization.
  • Understand and adhere to IT and corporate governance processes.

Nature and Scope

  • This position provides agile leadership and oversight for low to moderate-complexity products / efforts / delivery teams, which provide solutions to a narrow range of products / solutions in focused business areas.
  • Focus is on delivering Information Technology features / outcomes to internal groups involving new or improved practices, procedures, techniques, or systems.
  • Implementation is accomplished through small cross-functional teams which are not direct reports and are shared resources.
  • Teams will be comprised of individuals from multiple departments and typically single business units and geographical locations.
  • Influencing skills are leveraged, combined with the ability to execute.
  • May require minimal travel to overcome geographic, technical, and cultural barriers.
  • Incumbent exercises judgment following department policies, practices, procedures, and techniques.
  • The incumbent will lead the agile activities supported with moderate direction and supervision.
  • Customers vary based on services or products
  • Activities will be managed in Azure DevOps or another agile tooling
  • Work is reviewed by product owners and supervisors
  • Work can be conducted in person or remote fashion based on the requirement of the sponsors
  • This position reports to a manager and has dotted line reporting to agile centers of excellence.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Lead the team ceremonies : Scrum sprint planning, refinement, sprint demos, and retrospective
  • Facilitate team conflict resolution by focusing on scrum values of openness, honesty, and respect
  • Help a team / individual / product owners clarify goals and actions to achieve them
  • Facilitate team to estimate and plan product / solution in a variety of tools with minor supervision
  • Ensure team is incorporating feedback from customers, end-users, and key stakeholders to increase value for our customers continually
  • Shield teams from outside distraction / interference
  • Track and remove impediments with little to no assistance
  • Collaborate with functional SMEs to better define product scope, goals, and deliverables
  • Collect business requirements to enable the team to prioritize features / capabilities within the backlog
  • Work with the Product Owner to document and make visible the product / solution scope, goals, and deliverables
  • Develop estimates, schedules, effort, and cost based on best practices and experience
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive plan for products / solutions.
  • Identify capacity related risks, recommend potential mitigation, and escalate appropriately, and remediate
  • Create an environment of accountability within the delivery team
  • Work closely with functional team members to understand product / solution inter-dependencies.
  • Execute product delivery based on agile methodologies defined by the enterprise
  • Become proficient at using DevOps / Agile tooling and related tools
  • Work with subject matter experts to ensure that teams are consistently delivering the highest value
  • Prepare, present and review provided features and capabilities regularly with product owners and stakeholders
  • Work with internal and external technology suppliers and product owners to ensure an accurate product / solution budget and manage to it
  • Manage scope, communicating risks to scope, timeline, budget, and resolve issues
  • Identify, document, and escalate resource constraints, conflicts, and impediments
  • Build strong partnerships with business stakeholders to meet project deliverables and benefit case
  • Ensure product / solution alignment with enterprise standards and processes
  • Create an appropriate support model that addresses the support need of the product / solution
  • Update technical and job knowledge by learning from more senior-level scrum masters, self-education, and read professional publications.

Required :

  • 5+ years of IT experience or equivalent or 5+ years product / project management experience
  • 4+ years of agile / scrum experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Three plus years of experience working in an Agile environment as a Scrum Master with knowledge and demonstrated expertise in applying Agile best practices, Scrum ceremonies, and scaled Agile practices.
  • Two years of experience in the software development life cycle (requirements gathering, system design, development, testing, release cycle, support)
  • Experience running the five Scrum ceremonies
  • Two plus years experience in sprint and program increment planning
  • Experience implementing Agile estimation techniques
  • Two plus years experience in removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to aid in doing so.

Summary Pay Range :

$104,649.00 - $156,973.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.

Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
