Teacher - Instructional Coach, Montessori - Sirrine Montessori Center 24-25 SY

OVERVIEW

The Instructional Coach is a critical lever in improving student achievement. The position provides leadership, direction, and professional learning in the area of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

An instructional coach is a learner who models continuous improvement, lifelong learning, and goes above and beyond to ensure student success.

Instructional coaches will promote reflection, provide guidance and structure when needed, and focus on strengths, collaboration and common issues of concern.

They are responsible for supporting Montessori teachers in developing specialized instruction in classrooms through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching and providing feedback to Montessori teachers.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Holds a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate AND Montessori credential from a MACTE-accredited training program; three years of successful Montessori teaching experience required
• Holds a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate specific to content area; five years Montessori teaching experience preferred
• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred
• Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to model explicit, systematic instruction including effective teaching strategies and evidence-based best practices
• Knowledge of effective coaching practices and ability to motivate others
• Ability to design and facilitate professional learning and model effective instructional practices
• Effective communication, planning, organization, presentation, facilitation, and leadership skills
• Demonstrates knowledge of national, state, and district standards and trends concerning instructional design, resources, and strategies
• Demonstrates knowledge of Montessori-specifc trends concerning instructional design, resources, and strategies
• Able to work with and motivate others
• Leadership experience at school and / or district level, in a Montessori environment preferred

DISTRICT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Supports the strategic goals and Mesa Public Schools promise and Portrait of a Graduate
• Is a communication link between the district and school sites
• Designs and provides professional learning; tailors professional learning for Montessori audience when needed
• Assists with the alignment of standards / curriculum with related instructional materials, strategies and activities
• Is an active, participating member of district-level meetings, trainings, and coaching team

SCHOOL SITE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Provides guidance, resources, and assistance with a focus on strong instructional practices, feedback, and data analysis
• Models explicit, systematic instruction including effective teaching techniques, strategies and evidence-based best practices
• Models and provides feedback regarding effective instructional practices and implementation of district curriculum and resources
• Disseminates and discusses curriculum, instruction, and assessment related district issues and information to / with site administrators and collaborative teams
• Creates, facilitates, and monitors professional learning for leaders and collaborative teams
• Codesigns instruction with teacher teams
• Attends, participates and / or co- facilitates regular Professional Learning Communities
• Facilitates data meetings with teachers and collaborative teams as they analyze and make data driven decisions to impact student achievement
• Attends site- and district-based leadership team, grade-level, and / or department and staff meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned
