Responsibilities

• Ensure the reliability of TikTok iOS applications by monitoring and resolving online reliability-related issues including crashes and Out-of-Memory (OOM), and monitor and solve / minimize the occurrence of such issues to ensure a seamless user experience.
• Identify and resolve the root causes of long-standing reliability issues that persist online.
• Develop tools to assist developers in identifying reliability-related issues early on, before the release of new versions.
• Optimize and improve video playback performance and reliability on iOS.
• Work with cross-functional teams to debug and diagnose quality of end-to-end video experience and land optimization solutions.
• Develop OOM roadmaps to plan and ensure long-term compliance of TikTok's memory usage with expectations.
• Establish memory usage standards and guidelines for TikTok and improve the code that currently does not meet the expectation.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns.

Qualifications

Must have a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related field, and 2 years of related work experience;

OR a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related field, and 5 years of post-bachelor's, progressive related work experience.

Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience in each of the following :

• Utilizing iOS multithreading and locking to solve online performance issues;
• Utilizing OpenGL to create EAGLContext and perform video rendering;
• Designing and implementing mobile applications, including front-end UI logic and back-end business logic for iOS platform;
• Designing and implementing user interfaces and scripts for mobile applications using Objective-C, Swift, JavaScript, and React Native;
• Maintaining, debugging, and upgrading iOS mobile applications; and
• Optimizing performance for iOS mobile applications using xCode and VSCode.

Type : Full time, 40 hours / week

Location : San Jose, CA

Salary Range : $283442 - $355000 per year
