BAE Systems is seeking a QMS Internal Auditor, Principal to support out of its Sterling Heights, Michigan site. This is a hybrid-friendly role with a blend of hours at the office, work from home, and on travel.
In this role as a Senior QMS Internal Auditor, you will execute assigned internal QMS audits. You will serve as the primary interface in Sterling Heights between Quality and key Engineering and Project Management personnel.
This includes working with Corrective Action Board (CAB) membership on formal causal analysis of internal and external corrective actions.
You'll provide quality influence in resolution of high-visibility enterprise issues. As a strategic thinker, excellent communicator, and collaborator, you will be expected to lead by example in creating and promoting a value-creation & results-based culture for Quality while working across functional boundaries, at all levels of the organization.
- Conduct / Lead internal audits as needed per approved schedule or as requested by the management team.
- Work closely with on-site functional management to address quality concerns and identify solutions for resolution.
- Conduct periodic internal audits at other sites within the US as assigned.
- Support and develop internal audit strategies, plans, and checklists, and execute audit plan. Prepare final reports, conduct briefings, and maintain audit database.
- Write detailed reports on effectiveness of the quality system including strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement to the defined business process requirements.
- Participate in briefings with Senior Management with regard to status / health of the QMS at the Sterling Heights and related sites.
- Ensure audit findings are relevant, accurate, and completed in a timely fashion.
- Initiate corrective actions as required and verify corrective action plans are adequate and effective.
- Use experience in Process Mapping, FMEA and RCCA to support process improvements.
- Provide process consultation and guidance to design engineering and project management teams.
- Represent the company with customers, program management, and other appropriate stakeholders on QMS compliance and improvement opportunities.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline and six years related experience, or the overall equivalent
- Well versed in the ISO 9001-2015 standard and its implementation and execution
- Knowledgeable in the AS9100 Quality Standard
- Working knowledge of TIPQA quality management systems software
- Problem solving experience with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Ability to lead and / or facilitate cross-functional problem-solving discussions
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Experienced in making presentations to both large and small groups
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in teams
- A self-starter able to work to and accomplish company and department quality objectives
- Must be able to use experience and knowledge with Causal Analysis techniques and Life-Cycle Management to act in a role as a Subject Matter Expert (SME)
- Ability to explain relevant concepts to personnel unacquainted with processes and requirements
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Certified Lead Auditor, ASQ CQA, or equivalent
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent
- Master’s degree and four years experience
- Experience working in a DoD manufacturing environment
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range : $112420 - $191070
