Under general supervision and in accordance with established protocols, the Neurodiagnostic Technologist provides technical expertise in EEG and can expand into EEG, EMG, Evoked Potentials and Intraoperative Monitoring.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and minimum of three years experience in the hospital or elsewhere to learn the many aspects of neurodiagnostics practiced at Bronson (EEG, EMG, Evoked Potential, IOM);

or an equivalent combination of education and experience including formal technical training. Must be certified / registered in at least one area of neurodiagnostics within 2 years of hire : EEG (R.

EEGT); EMG (R. EDT); IOM (CNIM). Direct neurodiagnostic (EEG) experience preferred at this time. BLS required within 6 months of hire.

Certification in EEG, EMG, or IOM preferred. Weekend, holiday and stand by call requirements as determined by rotation with existing staff and Stand by Call per unit needs (based on patient occupancy).

Mental & Visual Fatigue : Work which produces very high levels of mental / visual fatigue, e.g. CRT work between 70 and 90 percent of the time, and work involving extremely close tolerances and considerable hand / eye coordination for sustained periods of time.

Physical Effort : Involves considerable standing or walking, regular lifting of light-weight objects (i.e., 20 pounds or less) and assisting with heavier tasks such as, assisting in lifting and moving patients.

Minor straining or fatiguing positions must be assumed, and some fatiguing physical motions are required.
