Here's what you'll do :
The Manager, Product Family is responsible for leading and managing multiple R&D innovation projects within a common technology program (combo device, perimetry, OCT, etc).
This individual will help define and execute the overall engineering strategic plan to drive the future growth and overall success of the organization in an increasingly competitive, highly dynamic, global environment.
The Product Family Manager owns all development projects and roadmap execution of his / her program and leads the team members.
This position is accountable for successful execution and shows full R&D responsibility for the respective product families.
- Drives new product innovation, directly and through a Project Management team, to ensure projects exceed market leading performance objectives for technology, time to market, features and profit.
- Oversees the planning and execution of multiple projects to a successful conclusion by ensuring that the objective and scope is well defined, resource are allocated appropriately, and project schedules are specified accurately, and budgets are maintained.
- Identifies and manages technical and schedule dependencies across multiple teams and ensures that they are understood, planned for and executed against.
- Contributes to the development of product requirements, business plans, and system requirements, through expertise in medical device development.
- Interacts with senior management in R&D, Marketing, Clinical / Regulatory Affairs, Customer Care, Operations, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain to ensure successful product development and introductions.
- Monitors, manages, and reports relevant project control indicators to all Stakeholders, Management and Partners
- Advocates for effective processes. Influences continual improvement in project management and product development processes.
- Works cross-functionally with senior leaders in Dublin and at other Zeiss sites to plan and deliver the product development, concept, and research strategies and roadmaps.
Identifies and leverages opportunities across Zeiss, allocating financial and human resources to ensure initiatives are fully supported.
Identifies and established partner relationships (individual and organization) as needed to address resource shortages and non-strategic work.
- Coach and mentor top talent into Zeiss' next generation Product Family Managers and business leaders. Identify, develop, and implement a succession plan for the organization, providing opportunities for candidates to build experience.
- Define, execute and adapt a multiyear strategy for the common technology (combo device, perimetry, OCT) that is aligned and integrated into the R&D multiyear strategy and fully supports the Chronic Disease Management (CDM) five-year business plan.
- Define the common technology program (combo device, perimetry, OCT) annual business plans based on the strategic roadmap.
Based on extensive operational business experience, execute the plan, and adapt activities as needed throughout the year to balance cost and competitive performance.
- Fosters teamwork, empowerment, and self-direction in the teams.
- Cultivates and promotes the ZEISS culture and values, according to the ZEISS Leadership Principles.
Do you qualify?
- BA or BS degree required.
- Eight (8) years Project Management responsibilities / experience
- Five (5) years of experience in medical device industry
- Five (5) years process improvement experience
- Two (2) years experience managing teams of people or cross functional projects
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; and strong presentation skills
- Experience working with global teams
- Working knowledge of IT-based tools for planning, organizing, resourcing, and communicating
The annual pay range for this position is $144,700 - $180,900 - San Francisco Bay Area.
The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity / specialization / scarcity of talent.
This position is eligible for a performance bonus.
