The Critical Care Registered Nurse assumes responsibilityand accountability for the application of the nursing process and the deliveryof patient care in a variety of critical care settings.
Consistently performsaccording to nursing standards and is accountable in managing patient care andassisting others in the management of patient care.
Responsibilities includemonitoring, assessment, vital sign monitoring, ventilator management,medication administration, intravenous insertion and infusion, central linecare, catheters, and maintenance of a running record of the patient’s status.
The Critical Care RN must be prepared at all times to perform cardiopulmonaryresuscitation and other lifesaving measures for the patients in their care.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement andevaluate patient careAssesses signs and symptoms indicating physiologic andpsychosocial changes in the patient’s conditionCollects, documents, analyzes, and interprets data and otherinformation from healthcare team membersCommunicates nursing interventions, expected outcomes andthe time frames for expected completion to other members of the hospital healthcare teamFunctions as a resource to the health care team members inplanning for patient’s dischargeDocuments the patient’s plan of care using identifiednursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursinginterventionsProvides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environmentInitiates and evaluates patient and / or family educationCompares expected and actual outcomes of care and identifiesdeviation from the plan of careAdheres to facility / client policies, procedures andprotocols at all timesPerforms other duties as assigned / necessaryMinimum Requirements : CurrentRegistered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practicesOne year of critical care experience is preferredMinimum of one year acute or critical care experiencepreferredCurrent BLS card;
- current ACLS / PALS card (per facilityrequirement)Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpracticeParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicableTB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirementsAbility to effectively elicit / provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers,clients) via strong communication skills;
