Estimator (Civil Construction)
Job Summary :
The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for shoring and earth retention projects.
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in civil construction estimating, with the ability to also estimate other scopes of work such as excavation, underground utilities, and site work.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop detailed cost estimates for shoring and earth retention projects, including materials, labor, and equipment.
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and documentation to determine project scope and requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for accurate estimating.
- Identify potential risks and opportunities within estimates and provide solutions.
- Maintain and update cost databases and pricing models to reflect current market trends.
- Assist in the preparation of bid proposals and client presentations.
- Provide estimating support for other civil scopes of work as needed, including excavation and site work.
- Participate in project meetings to discuss budgets and cost control measures.
Qualifications :
- Proven experience as an Estimator in civil construction, with a focus on shoring and earth retention projects.
- Familiarity with estimating practices across various civil scopes (excavation, underground utilities, site work) is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid is highly preferred
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and clients.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
