Job Summary

Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is seeking a Maintenance Operations Specialist Supervisor to oversee all facility maintenance operations, ensuring that campus facilities and custodial needs are met efficiently and effectively.

This role includes the supervision and management of custodial staff, mentoring and training team members, and coordinating with various departments to support the college's operational needs.

The supervisor will be responsible for assigning, tracking, and scheduling preventative maintenance, managing work orders through a computerized system, and overseeing projects related to vendor relations, preventative and deferred maintenance.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in budget management and be bilingual in Spanish and English.

Essential Functions

40% Supervise in-house facility custodial needs. Collaborate with direct reports, peers and leadership for all areas of facilities as it relates to the college.

20% Establishes facility maintenance standards and assigns activities and performs inspections to ensure successful completion.

10% Supervise equipment maintenance; recommends equipment, vendors and suppliers; authorizes purchases of supplies as needed.

10% Conducts inspections of facilities to ensure compliance with ADA, OSHA standards, fire and other applicable standards.

Takes corrective actions as necessary and reports outstanding issues to the appropriate supervisor.

10% Develops Scope of Work Statements and supervises all contracted work performed at the site. Determines project cost estimates and schedules projects to ensure minimum conflict with daily operations.

10% Maintains accurate records and reports on personnel and operations as necessary; performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED, four years of maintenance operations, grounds or directly related experience, and two years of lead work or senior level building maintenance or grounds experience.

There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED.

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience as a lead worker in an academic facility setting to include mentoring and training.
  • Experience assigning, tracking, and scheduling preventative maintenance on equipment to support the college.
  • Experience using a computerized work order system.
  • Experience with custodial cleaning products, procedures and equipment.
  • Experience in overseeing projects to include vendor relations, preventative maintenance and deferred maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience with budget management.
  • Bilingual (Spanish & English)

  • Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with frequent exposure to hazardous physical conditions (such as mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, etc.
  • frequent exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); frequent exposure to hazardous materials (such as chemicals);

and frequent exposure to extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, movement restrictions, intense noise or travel.
