What You’ll Be Doing :
- Prepare and assemble living trusts, last wills, deeds, and health care documents, including Property Power of Attorney, Mental Health Care Power of Attorney, HIPAA Authorizations, and Living Wills.
- Review completed intake forms and input pertinent information into the client management system for document production, following up with the attorney or client for clarification as needed.
- Explain estate planning documents to clients, obtain appropriate signatures, and answer client questions without providing legal advice.
- Assemble estate planning binders, make appropriate copies, scan signed pages, and organize them in the appropriate digital format in the client file.
- Conduct Asset Review Meetings, gathering all necessary asset information for document preparation.
- Record detailed notes summarizing each signing meeting in the client management software.
- Prepare a variety of court documents, including probate and guardianship petitions.
- Draft client correspondence, tax forms, and other essential documents.
- Calendar critical deadlines and follow up on outstanding inquiries, client status meetings, and phone calls.
- Prepare financial institution-specific claim forms and proofread teammates’ work.
- Identify client needs and bring them to the attorney’s attention for further legal advice.
- Participate in and contribute to internal meetings and support paralegals and attorneys with various administrative tasks as needed.
- All other tasks assigned by supervisor, Leadership, or attorneys.
About You :
- Be an outstanding, multi-year paralegal, with a desire to learn, be coached, and grow.
- Possess a keen eye for detail with excellent word processing, typing (55+ WPM), spelling, and proofreading skills.
- Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of living trusts, last wills, and health care documents.
- Capable of explaining complex estate planning documents to clients in a clear, professional manner.
- Exhibit flexibility and adaptability to new tasks, processes, or areas of support.
- Show a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel with a willingness to learn other Microsoft Office applications and practice management software.
- Uphold the firm’s values and adhere to all company policies.
