This Test Engineer will join a new R&D lab in Davidson, NC and support the development of Trane Technologies HVAC products.
This engineer is responsible for many functions of laboratory engineering : managing and modifying test facilities including standard test development, test planning, process controls, instrumentation, and programming PLC controls.

Where is the work :
This position has been designated as onsite.
Core Job Responsibilities (others may be added) :
- Manage testing for heat pump development and validation in collaboration with product development teams
- Own test facilities’ capability and ensure equipment has the necessary capabilities and reliability to produce quality data
- Support the design and build of new facilities and experimental setups
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors
- Develop standard test procedures to drive test efficiency and lab throughput
- Develop expertise on data acquisition systems
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards
- Maintain facility documentation
- Support continuous improvement activities such as 5S and implementing Lean principles
- Up to 20% overnight travel required during the first year for training. Less than 10% travel subsequent.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in engineering or applied sciences and 3-5 years of relevant experience OR a master's degree and 1-3 years of relevant experience is required.
Key Competencies :
Experience in with thermal systems and product testing
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and Outlook) required, with desire to learn basic programming in Visual Basic.

Base pay for this position is $85,000-$110,000
