Job Overview : A prominent law firm in Portland, OR, is seeking a full-time Litigation Associate to join its experienced civil litigation defense team.
This role involves handling a variety of legal matters with a focus on construction defect and casualty claims. The position offers a hybrid work model, providing flexibility for remote work with occasional on-site responsibilities for those living within commuting distance.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for all aspects of litigation, including case preparation, court appearances, and client advisement.
Duties :
- Draft and file motions, pleadings, and discovery documents.
- Represent clients in trials, arbitrations, depositions, and mediations.
- Provide expert legal advice and case updates to clients and their insurers.
- Oversee day-to-day litigation tasks, ensuring cases progress efficiently.
- Prepare for trial, including witness examinations and courtroom representation.
Requirements :
- Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures and law.
- Proven experience in drafting and arguing motions.
- Ability to navigate court systems effectively and efficiently.
- Experience in trial preparation and courtroom advocacy.
- Skilled in conducting depositions and witness examinations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a legal team.
- Active member of the Oregon State Bar.
- Experience with construction defect or casualty claims is preferred.
Education :
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Certifications :
Admission to the Oregon State Bar (required).
