SUMMARY :
The Children’s Mobile Intervention Services (CMIS) Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) provides psychiatric clinical leadership for Bethanna’s Children’s Mobile Intervention Services (CMIS).
The CRNP provides direct care to persons served in the program, oversees the development and implementation of treatment plans, provides medication management, consultation, and clinical leadership in deciding whether an individual requires further psychiatric evaluation at a Crisis Response Center or other ER.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and a Master’s Degree in Nursing from regionally accredited programs.
Certified as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. At least two-years experience evaluation and prescribing psychotropic medication to children and adolescents is required.
Experience working with individuals who are in the child welfare system, and knowledge of CASSP principles and best practice guidelines are preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the following duties :
Provides a culturally sensitive, strengths-based, trauma-informed, psychiatric nursing evaluation on each person served receiving treatment in the CMIS program, with DSM 5 diagnosis, recommended medications, and recommendations for treatment.
Oversees the development and implementation of treatment plans for all individuals and families in the CMIS program
Prescribes psychotropic medications as appropriate and provides medication management services consistent with each child’s needs and best practice guidelines.
Consults with foster parents / childcare professionals, mental health clinicians, school personnel, social workers, and other involved professionals on psychiatric issues affecting the individuals served.
Ensures that appropriate consent is obtained from the legal guardian for all individuals below age 18 before prescribing medications.
Will complete a Petition to Treat with Medication form for Children and Youth Agencies when a court order is needed to obtain consent.
Maintains compliance with protocols for monitoring Metabolic Syndrome, including labs completed in required timeframes, follow-up tests as needed, communication with primary care physician / pediatrician regarding abnormal labs, referrals for nutritional consultation for obese or underweight individuals, referral to an endocrinologist as needed.
Follows state, Bethanna and Managed Care Organization’s Best Practice Protocols for prescribing benzodiazepines, antipsychotic medications, and opiates :
o The Bethanna policy is that minors under the age of 18 are not to be prescribed benzodiazepines.
o Bethanna psychiatrists are not permitted to prescribe opiates to individuals under the care of a Bethanna psychiatrist.
o Bethanna psychiatrists should use caution when prescribing antipsychotic medications. Prior consent from a legal guardian is required for all individuals involved in the child welfare system, including those who are legally able to consent for medication in Pennsylvania who are age 14 and older.
This is a Best Practice Standard and Bethanna’s required procedure for all individuals under age 18 receiving medication management services through any of Bethanna’s Behavioral Health Programs.
Will participate in Genesight® saliva testing as appropriate and with proper consent from a legal guardian age 18 or older or person served age 18 and older.
Provides clinical leadership to the staff of the CMIS program through participation in Treatment Team Reviews, offering case consultations as needed, and conducting staff trainings as requested by the Clinical Director, Vice President of Integrity, and Vice President of Behavioral Health Services.
Is available 24 hours a day to respond to emergency situations, including situations involving the need for psychiatric hospitalization or adverse psychotropic medication reactions.
Other duties as requested by the Vice President of Behavioral Health, Vice President of Integrity, or CMCTS / CMIS Clinical Director.
Performs all responsibilities consistent with the Pennsylvania CASSP (Child and Adolescent Service System Program) principles and Best Practice guidelines.
Must demonstrate cultural competence with persons served, family members, and coworkers.
Attend all mandatory State, County, Managed Care, and Certification trainings required
If your position requires Licensure and / or Certification, the workforce member must ensure all credentialing and CEUs are completed in order to maintain an active license or certification
$140,000 per year salary
Community travel required : schools, homes and communtiies
65 cents for every mile
