Minimum Qualifications Education Level Required : bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Related Field.
Relevant Experience Required : 3-4 years proven accounting / finance experience; Government or non-profit experience preferred.
- Knowledge Required : Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook (PowerPoint a plus); Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Experience analyzing audited financial statements; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Skilled in accounting software systems, PeopleSoft experience a plus;
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

BASIC FUNCTION :
Responsible for recording the activities of certain subsidiaries / economic programs, including preparation of monthly journal entries, bank reconciliations and account analyses.
Responsible for reconciling expense and cash activities for special large economic development programs related to the State Small Business Credit Initiative.
WORK PERFORMED :
ØRecord all transactions for assigned programs / subsidiaries.
ØPrepare monthly journal entries, account analysis and bank reconciliations.
ØPrepare monthly payment authorization forms related to specific ESD fund disbursements and provide general ledger coding for payments as needed.
ØPerform other accounting functions such as review of invoices, purchase orders, requisitions, cash deposits for assigned ESD programs and subsidiaries.
ØAssist program staff with reporting, as necessary.
ØPrepare audit work papers for internal and external auditors.
ØPrepare journal entries to record all program transactions.
ØAnalyze and reconcile all programmatic income and expense accounts.
ØAct as backup to the Staff Accountant of Empire State New Markets Corporation.
ØPerform tasks, analyses and projects as assigned.
