Itron has an exciting new opportunity for a Revenue Accountant with strong potential for career development. The Revenue Accountant develops, implements, and / or maintains Revenue Recognition models.

The individual in this role partners with project managers and other key stakeholders in the organization to ensure customer deployment projects are accounted for accurately.

The Revenue Accountant monitors and develops monthly reports of revenues and expenditures for projects, provides record of assets, liabilities and other financial transactions.

Additionally, the individual in this capacity may assist in the setup of processes and procedures that properly capture, track and report revenue, including deferred revenue, in accordance with the company revenue recognition policy.

This individual may generate revenue reports for internal and / or external use. Also they may interpret reports and records for managers / stakeholders, and be involved in reviewing, tracking and maintaining billing information in the financial systems - ensuring accuracy and compliance with U.

S. GAAP, ASC 606 and other accounting regulations.

Job Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Take the lead on reviewing customer contracts and identifying contract elements to be accounted for.
  • Maintain accurate revenue recognition models for assigned projects.
  • Update monthly forecasts for revenues and costs after consultation with project managers.
  • Perform critical review of revenue and cost forecast changes to determine revenue recognition impact
  • Evaluate, create and implement processes and controls to ensure compliance with GAAP and Itron policies.
  • Communicate and educate on revenue recognition requirements.
  • Assist Revenue Manager to document and communicate judgments pertaining to revenue recognition.
  • Provide analytical revenue and unbilled receivable management reporting.
  • Oversee customer invoicing for assigned projects
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations related to revenue recognition.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Build positive relationships with project managers and other key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment.

Required Skills & Experience :

  • 3+ yrs experience in and understanding of revenue recognition accounting pronouncements with preference to candidates who have experience in percentage of completion accounting
  • Public accounting experience preferred.Big 4 experience is a plus
  • Willingness to take on additional projects and responsibilities as needed
  • Excellent written and oral communication, team player, and sound organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently to identify problems early and explore possible solutions
  • Detail oriented and can see tasks and assignments through to completion
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Oracle and Oracle Projects Module a plus

Education / Certification : Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required, emphasis in accounting highly preferred.

CPA certification a plus.

Travel : 0-10%

San Jose, CA : The base salary for this position is 100,000 - 188,000. Liberty Lake, WA : This base salary for this position is $75,000 -$148,000.
