Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Ambulatory Care Nurse Manager, the Blank Asst 2 will be responsible for providing ongoing administrative support to the Renal Outpatient Dialysis Center, within the scope of data collection and patient medical records maintenance.
Additionally, this individual must be familiar with medical terminologies and be able to maintain cordial working relationships with patients, patient family members, faculty, medical students and clinical staff.
The Blank Asst 2 will assist in areas outside immediate job duties as needed in order to maintain smooth functioning of clinical operation.
Covered under University series concept / job specification for classification 4723. Under general supervision works on operational and / or procedural assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving procedural issues.
Makes recommendations to improve processes and / or procedures.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF.
For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $25.72 - $36.59 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description
The Nephrology Division spans multiple campuses with faculty and staff located at the UCSF Parnassus, Laurel Heights, San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center (SFVAMC), and Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG).
The Nephrology Division consists of over 100 faculty, fellows, and staff whose work is grounded in deep commitment to, and respect for patients with kidney disease.
The Division has approximately 40 faculty members, 15 admin and research staff, 16 fellows, and an annual budget of $11.
1 million. For over 50 years, the Nephrology Division has employed and trained leaders in academic nephrology, superb clinical research scientists and basic scientists, and outstanding clinical nephrologists.
Our faculty are leading experts in adult nephrology : including acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, electrolyte disorders, and kidney transplantation.
Our mission continues in this tradition : expanding the frontiers of basic and clinical investigation in nephrology, training the next generation of academic nephrology leaders and providing the highest level of patient care.
Our division within and the UCSF School of Medicine overall provides a premier academic environment for faculty and trainees to provide outstanding clinical care and to be at forefront of kidney research worldwide.

Required Qualifications
- High school graduation and three years of related administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- 1 year of experience in a medical office required
- Billingual - Spanish speaking
- Basic math skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual or multilingual
- CMA - Certified Medical Assistant
- Knowledge of various types of medical insurance and provisions
- Medical office / clinic guidelines and medical assistant scope of procedures
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations
- Taking height, weight, blood pressure measurements
- Medical record documentation and review
- Speak clearly and present factual information to customers, clients, and other associates
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of medical health record systems (i.e., Epic)
- Strong computer skills, including basic keyboarding skills, and experience with at least two Office-type software programs (i.
e., Outlook, Word, and Excel). Proven ability to navigate through multiple patient records systems. Able to sit at a computer terminal with telephone headphones for extended period of time.
- Ability to analyze situations, prioritizes, and develops solutions and makes recommendations.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to use good judgment and work independently, at times under the pressure of deadlines
- Ability to access situations prioritizes workload, develop solutions, and make recommendations.
- Excellent customer service and communication / interpersonal skills, both over the telephone and directly.
- Able to sit at a computer terminal with telephone headphones for extended periods of time.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated administrative / office coordination skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical practice terminology
