The Impact You Will Make

The Senior Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for performing HR related duties on a professional level and works closely with HR and Operations leadership in support of our overall employee experience.

This individual will perform mid-high-level duties related to employee relations, performance management, policy and procedure, training, and employment law compliance.

Responsibilities :

  • Make recommendations to managers for the resolution of employee relations issues in accordance with the Employee Value Proposition, Employee Handbook, Anti-Harassment Policy and Federal / State compliance.
  • Guide field personnel / managers to coach them through employee performance issues, creation and delivery of Performance Improvement Plans and make recommendations when appropriate.
  • Update field personnel regularly on all employee relations matters respective of their divisions, verbally and through the Employee Relations tracking report spreadsheet.
  • Escalate issues to Director of Employee Relations and Compliance, when necessary, after discussing with field personnel.
  • Work directly with the legal team and Director of Employee Relations and Compliance when cases are unresolved internally and complaints are made with external government agencies (i.

e. EEOC, State Human Relations Commission, etc.).

  • Prepare for and attend mediation conferences with attorney and outside agencies when necessary.
  • Act as second level support when the Director of Employee Relations and Compliance is not available for general questions or case review.
  • Partner with managers to coordinate and investigate employee complaints from field employees.
  • Support and assist with Leave Administration, including updating LOA portal with ComPsych / FMLASource.
  • Conduct Management Training in the field, virtually or in person, as needed.
  • Update Director of Employee Relations and Compliance on all employee relations matters verbally and through the Employee Relations tracking report.
  • Serve as a liaison of the HR Training Department to deliver ad-hoc training as needed in a variety of HR areas including performance management, talent development and recruiting.
  • Performs employment verifications for government entities promptly and correctly and other agencies such as Experian.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four (4) year college or university with a preferred study in Human Resources or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of Employee Relations experience required.
  • SHRM CP or SCP preferred.
  • Experience supporting a multi-site, multi-state organization preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Federal and State laws / regulations pertaining to employment, employee benefits, employee relations, etc.
  • Ability to remain objective while conducting investigations.
  • Ability to keep all employee information strictly confidential.
  • Sufficient typing skills to help complete reports and memos to field personnel.
  • Ability to understand and use computer software that the department uses for employment, compliance, and reporting purposes.

Specific Software Packages : MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Google Chrome, and HRIS software.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must posses a valid drivers license and access to a personal vehicle.
