JOB REQUIREMENTS Education High school graduate plus one year of phlebotomy experience. Experience A minimum of one year experience in phlebotomy.
Demonstrated proficient computer, written and verbal communication and customer service skills. Must have a clean driving record with no moving violations or accidents.

Normal hospital environment. Position requires normal or corrected eyesight, hearing within normal range, frequent walking and standing.
Close eye work. Exposure to biological hazards via venous punctures. Oral communications with patients and clients. Operates computer terminals and printers, fax machines, centrifuges and telephones.
Lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs. Occasional pushing / pulling up to 30 lbs.
JOB SUMMARY Arranges for the efficient and orderly registration of patients, ensures that accurate patient information is collected and that patients are made aware of hospital policies and procedures.
Responsible for patient demographics utilized in the preparation of records and reports used in making operating decisions.
Works with and has access to confidential patient information. Position requires making frequent decisions or actions following general procedures often without clearly defined precedents.
Position requires diplomacy and a professional image and manner in dealing with patients, families, visitors, medical staff and SBMC personnel.
Lab assistant is responsible for a positive first impression of SBMC personnel. The Lab Assistant will perform routine venipunctures and other related work when fully qualified as evidenced by the personnel training checklist.
Must learn the correct use of ABNs and waivers and knowledge of medical necessity for reimbursement. May occasionally assist in requisitioning and distribution of supplies, picking up specimens from client facilities and transporting them to Reference Laboratory and to the Main Laboratory.
