About the Role
Join our finance team as an Accountant where you'll play a crucial role in supporting our Adult Rehabilitation Centers (ARCs) through comprehensive accounting and financial management. This position combines technical accounting expertise with mission-driven work to ensure our programs have the financial foundation needed to serve our communities effectively.
Pay Rate : $22-$24.93 / Hour
Hours : 36.25 Hours / Week, Full Time, Hybrid
After 90 days - 1 Day / Week remote or 4 day work week!
Key Responsibilities
Core Accounting Functions
- Utilize accounting software to process receipts, payables, and journal data from assigned centers
- Reconcile assigned ARC operating bank accounts and ensure sufficient cash flow for operations
- Process month-end and year-end journals with accuracy and timeliness
- Apply accounting principles to post journal entries, analyze financial data, and prepare financial reports
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Salvation Army Accounting processes
Financial Management & Support
Assist ARC Bookkeepers in generating necessary reports for ARC Administrators
Collect and review store bank reconciliations each monthCollaborate with Center Administrators and bookkeepers to address inquiries and resolve issuesMonitor cash flow for centers prior to check issuanceProcess and upload necessary ACH / Positive Pay files on online banking systemsReporting & Analysis
Prepare internal and external audit schedules as requestedAnalyze accounts monthly, quarterly, and annually for payment accuracyAssist in preparing financial reports including financial statements and budget performancePerform daily accounts payable and receivable reviewsReview ARC Payroll Journals for Exception ReportingAdditional Responsibilities
Research and approve new vendors and create vendor accountsAssist with preparing eligible vendors for 1099 processingProvide training to new ARC Bookkeeping staffPerform ARC Bookkeeper functions when necessary, including AP, AR, and Payroll Journal managementIdentify areas for process improvement and assist in implementing new accounting policiesSubmit requests and requisitions via TSAMM for CFB approvalMaintain confidentiality when handling sensitive informationWhat You'll Need to Succeed
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferredStrong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keepingEffective communication skills for collaboration with multiple stakeholdersAbility to work independently and manage multiple prioritiesProfessional demeanor and strong work ethicPreferred Qualifications
Experience with multi-location accounting operationsKnowledge of non-profit accounting principlesExperience with bank reconciliations and cash managementPrevious experience in training and mentoring staffWhat Success Looks Like
