About Us : The Department of Public Works provides diverse services to the Riverdale Park community, encompassing facility maintenance, waste collection, street sweeping, litter and graffiti control, snow removal, traffic management, engineering, and equipment maintenance.
We manage budgets, maintain various facilities and open spaces, and fulfill obligations for non-Town-owned infrastructure.
Our team is often the first responder in emergencies, with most functions conducted outdoors.
Role : TRP Clean Street Ambassadors are pivotal in enhancing Riverdale Park’s aesthetic and cleanliness. They represent the community, fostering relationships and contributing to town pride.
Reporting : Reports to the Deputy Director of Public Projects and Services.
Key Responsibilities :
- Collaborate with Public Works to maintain clean streets, parks, facilities, and green spaces.
- Patrol assigned areas to promptly remove litter and debris, ensuring a welcoming environment.
- Respond to graffiti and vandalism instances, coordinating removal and preventive actions.
- Support landscaping by planting, watering, weeding, and tree care.
- Engage with residents, businesses, and visitors, addressing concerns.
- Assist in event setup, breakdown, and maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records and provide reports.
- Promote community awareness through educational initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with the Public Works team.
- Adhere to safety protocols during activities.
Education and Experience :
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age : 21 years.
- Strong commitment to community service and environmental efforts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated reliability, self-motivation, attention to detail.
- Prior community service or landscaping experience preferred.
- On-the-job training provided.
Licensure / Certifications :
Must maintain a valid Class D driver’s license.
Mental Requirements :
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Problem-solving skills for effective beautification and engagement.
- Strong organizational skills.
Physical Requirements :
- Engage in various physical activities.
- Handle objects up to 50 pounds.
- Operate in diverse weather conditions.
- Precise visual capabilities.
