Lab Assistant

Position Details

This position performs various laboratory test activities, calibrations and calculations to provide useful and accurate product for the Quality Control department.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to : Technician would be responsible for Quality Assurance and Quality Control of large-scale fermentations and resulting cultures using classical microbial plating methods and techniques, including preparation of solutions and growth media for enumeration, selection, and differentiation of bacteria.

Additional responsibilities would include maintenance of bacterial strains, aseptic preparation of fermentation inoculums, and maintaining lab organization and cleanliness.

This postion is 1st shift, Monday through Friday from 8 : 00 am - 5 : 00 pm, with some weekend work and OT potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare media; Set up, operate, clean and maintain equipment at the bench
• Collect and record experiment samples, perform sample assays, perform data analysis and reporting, and maintain supply stocks
• Performs various testing
• Knowledge of classical microbial plating methods and technics
• Quality asssurance and quality control of large scale fermentations
• Accurately and precisely prepare and analyze samples
• Preparation of soluttions and growth media for enumeration, selection and differentiation of bacteria
• Maintenance of bacterial strains and aseptic preparation of fermentation inoculums
• Compile and maintain files for all records of testing
• Stock lab supplies and order as necessary to ensure adequate supplies.
• Enter test results of raw ingredients and products into the computer database
• General lab maintenance organization and cleanliness

Education & Experience

• Bachelor on Biological Sciences or equivalent.
• 1 to 3 years of experience in a laboratory enviornment
