Pay range $22 to $26 depending on skill-level and experience.

Summary

The Machine Technician Operator is primarily responsible for operating machinery and taking care of all machine-specific functions such as configuring the equipment, loading, and operating the machines, and optimizing the machine capability.

Operator constructs small parts and components to create new products according to customer specifications. In addition, they perform diagnostic tests on assembled items and conduct adjustments when needed to make sure the final product functions efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure machine is set up and operating efficiently as per the specifications, adjusting HMI / MMI interface when necessary.
• Fabricate and assemble parts or components to build a whole new product.
• Perform regular product quality tests to ensure that the product is formed in accordance with specifications.
• Ensure preventative maintenance is performed on machinery when needed.
• Identify needs for improvement and communicate with supervisor to ensure quality is maintained.
• Implementation of improvements as directed by supervisor.

Education and Experience

• A high school diploma or GED.
• Hands-on mechanic classes in educational institution preferred. (High school / vocational school / apprenticeship)
• Experience working with very small parts and microscopes required.
• Experience working with extremely tight tolerances required.
• Experience with manufacturing tooling and equipment / machine shop grinding / equipment troubleshooting preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities

• General mechanical reasoning, visual / spatial relations abilities, and specific tool knowledge.
• Ability to measure with gauges.
• Ability to learn how to program machines and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to focus for defined periods.
• Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams, product manuals, process documents, and gather information regarding its parts, fixtures, tools, etc.
• Appropriate manual dexterity to load microscopic parts into various plastic bodies.
• Ability to maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment and ensure compliance with the company's rules and policies.
• Ability to meet given deadlines and quotas.
• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to work independently or as a team.
• Ability to effectively communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work on projects long-term that require monotonous thought and movement.
• Ability to identify product defects.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel;

and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.

The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
