State-of-the-Art Breast Imaging Technology

The Stanford Outpatient Imaging Centers have the state-of-the-art MRI (1.5 T and 3T MRI) scanners, Digital Mammography, Ultrasound and Bone Density, offering referring physicians and patients easy access to the latest advances in imaging.

A Brief Overview

Oversees day to day operations of assigned modality in Radiology (Diagnostic, MRI, CT, etc.) including patient flow and quality assurance.

Responsible for monitoring exams and / or CR images, assuring high quality following established departmental and QA protocols using independent judgment and initiative.

This position provides input back and data relative to staff regarding individual exam and / or image for QA purposes. Depending on assigned modality, the Radiology Technical Supervisor performs general and specialized radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures and / or magnetic resonance imaging and computed standard of quality as required.

Capable of organizing work priorities and adjusting as circumstances requires. This position demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary of assigned modality to provide exams or imaging services to the developmental ages of patients from newborn to adult.

Possesses the ability to assess and interpret appropriate data relative to age and to provide care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring / firing, scheduling, performance evaluations, quality reviews, timecard reconciliations, staff education, coaching, development, support and promotion of customer relations, and monitoring of activities to ensure performance standards are achieved.

What you will do

Compiles statistical and QA data as needed. Reviews exam for quality, providing input back to staff regarding technical factors, and need to repeat images.

Coordinates and problem solves scheduling / patient care needs (including research) daily. Monitors outpatient schedule back-log, accommodates all emergency needs in a timely manner.

Coordinates with personnel of other departments regarding patient and / or staff related problems.

Functions as modality super user, providing instruction and assistance to staff. Manages information utilizing appropriate manual or electronic system.

Maintains exam protocols and or techniques to assure maximized exam quality and, as appropriate, exposure levels, minimizing the need to repeat imaging.

Notifies appropriate personnel of supply requirements; makes recommendations concerning the purchase, maintenance and / or repair of equipment.

Participates in orientation and training of assigned staff, students, residents and faculty.

Performs supervisory functions for the assigned program, section or unit by interviewing and recommending the hiring of new staff members;

providing or arranging for training for subordinates; evaluating subordinates' performance; and recommending personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, or disciplinary action to ensure adequate and competent staffing.

Produces quality images as needed following established departmental and QA protocols to include protocols parameters or, proper labeling and patient ID.

Revises, develops and implements departmental procedures; communicate necessary changes to affected staff and departments.

Supervises day-to-day operations of modality. Reviews task sets priorities and revises workflow to effectively facilitate customer and departmental needs.

Education Qualifications

Associate's degree in related field.

Experience Qualifications

Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience, including one (1) year of supervisory responsibility.

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to apply judgment and make informed decisions.

Ability to budget, make financial projections and write reports.

Ability to manage workflow and / or unit productivity.

Ability to review billing codes for procedures and assures accurate billing.

Ability to perform general and specialized radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures which meet the departments standard of quality.

Ability to plan, organize, develop tactical plans and set priorities.

Ability to solve problems and identify solutions.

Ability to speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for the job Ability to supervise, coach, mentor, train, and evaluate work results Ability to work effectively as a team player.

Knowledge of billing process.

Knowledge of Imaging processes and fluoroscopic techniques, methods and equipment.

Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, administration, fiscal and personnel management Knowledge of radiation production, positioning and radiation safety.

Knowledge of Magnetic resonance imaging techniques, methods, and equipment.

Knowledge of Magnetic resonance imaging physics, physiology, structural and organic anatomy including cross-sectional anatomy.

Licenses and Certifications

  • ARMRIT American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists, or
  • ARRT-MRI Certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
  • BLS Basic Life Support

Base Pay Scale : Generally starting at $66.46 - $88.05 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
