Job Purpose
The External Manufacturing Quality and Technical Assistant role supports the EMQA team to proactively ensure EM Quality Systems are in place to meet MARS Q&FS standards and enable the delivery of products produced on behalf of Mars.
This role will also validate EMQM / QMS (Mars internal quality) processes and provide facilitation through relevant documentation.
Working as part of the External Manufacturing Quality Assurance team, the job holder will be working closely with the Chocolate co-manufacturing team and with existing EMs to ensure they meet the Mars Global Quality standards.
A key requirement of the job is to support continuously reviewing and driving compliance to these standards through risk management and specification agreements influencing the EM network to continuously improve their quality performance.
The relationship with internal and external clients is critical to this role to understand the needs of the business and the technical requirements.
Job Role
- Data Management of Co-Manufacturers and Co-Packers according to Mars External Manufacturing Quality Management Standard (EMQM)
- Become a Hold & Release expert in the team
- Support SMQ module on Nexus & loading audit reports & S-CAPAs
- Manage the screener process working with EMs and Global SRA team, manage Veritas spec workflow & approval, approve & schedule BOMs in RADAR, support NUBA, MPC and Relay processes, liaise with EMs to share this information as needed.
- Complaints management internal reporting & sending info to / chasing up EMs, creating reports for quarterly / annual reviews with EMs and ad hoc reporting as needed
- Collating external certification from EMs GFSI, Lifestyle etc making sure our records are up to date
- Supplier file and Metrics file keep up to date each period
- Support sharing of documents with EMs through DocuSign
- Support EMQA team with ad-hoc administrative tasks
- Opportunity to support EMQA with audits as part of development
To be considered for the Spares engineer role you must have the following skills and experience
- Preferred : Bachelors degree in Food Science / Technology, Chemistry or Microbiology
- Quality Management Systems Knowledge (ISO / BRC / IFS)
- Experience in a quality assurance / quality systems environment ideally in a food company
- Experience in facilitation & leading technical work-streams (with suppliers).
- Proven record of problem solving ability using scientific knowledge & principles.
- High learning agility (e.g. to understand and adopt IT systems).
- IT literate, quick to learn & operate new computer based systems.
- Great attention to detail, making sure nothing is missed on paperwork.
- Strong document management skills
- Recognised interpersonal savvy and communication skills
