Job Description
SUMMARY : The Business Relationship Manager (BRM) is a Senior Level position that will primarily focus on developing partnership between IT and assigned business units.
The BRM is the key point of contact, technical and business translator, and advocate for the interests of both the business and IT;
acting as a strategic thought partner, not just a provider, to the lines of business on all their IT needs. The BRM is responsible for working with CORE IT teams, Vendor Management, Project Managers and IT management to ensure the best possible delivery throughout the lifecycle of the request.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.
- Provide strategic guidance to ensure the team is developing and executing on business analysis and process improvement capabilities to deliver business value and transformation.
- Act as a key point of contact between the business units and IT; maintain awareness of key initiatives and projects aligned with business line priorities;
- engage and participate in business line planning activities; provide input to the business line for applying technology to their challenges;
communicate and report concerns of the business unit to IT.
- Working with the CORE IT team, act as a channel of business line input to IT demand planning process for new business requirements and initiatives.
- Conduct regular checkpoints with business line sponsors to gain feedback on Business IT alignment and satisfaction levels.
- Assist in managing the annual capital planning process for any assigned business line(s), as well as working with business and IT managers on managing prioritization, resourcing and scheduling of requests.
- Provide both strategic and detailed support to the business and IT on significant projects and initiatives.
- Ensure that BankUnited methodologies, processes, tools and guidelines are followed consistently across projects and initiatives in order to establish a stable framework to improve the probability of successful delivery.
- Support a comprehensive analysis of project and / or initiative requirements. Work with Business Analysts to ensure business and functional requirements are captured, validated and accurately translated for delivery by the IT development & systems teams.
- Proactively collaborate with the business to identify potential process improvements and enhancements that increase efficiencies and decrease costs.
- Develop and maintain appropriate banking industry knowledge of common financial services concepts, practices and procedures.
- Serve as an additional escalation path and navigate the IT organization on behalf of the business to resolve issues or facilitate urgent requests.
- Monitor customer satisfaction targets. Ensure the relevance and usefulness of the relationship management activities through satisfaction surveys across the business unit stakeholder community.
Ensure IT services to the business are delivered in line with SLAs.
- Build a strong internal network and cultivate close relationships with all key stakeholders. Participate in business line staff meetings and strategy sessions.
- Coordinate to identify, screen and evaluate new solution opportunities to address unmet (internal and external) customer needs.
Perform business analysis and prepare recommendations as needed. Collaborate with architecture and operations teams to ensure solution compatibility with company standards.
- Primary contacts are CIO, IT leadership team and staff, business unit executives and line managers, Enterprise Architecture Team, Vendor Management, Portfolio Managers, and Project Managers.
- Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering ( Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
- Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
- Identifies and reports suspicious activity.
EDUCATION
A Bachelor's degree or combination of education / experience, training, may be considered required.
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 5 or more years of IT or banking industry experience required.
- Demonstrated experience in managing "upward" among senior leadership, working with diverse teams, and consultative leadership required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Agile Scrum Certification preferred.
- Agile Product Owner Certification preferred.
- Agile Certified Practitioner preferred.
- Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.
