QUALITY ASSURANCE AUDITOR

Overview

The Audit Quality Assurance Auditor is responsible for overseeing the quality and performance of the bank's internal audit function.

This role ensures that the internal audit processes adhere to the highest standards of quality and compliance, aligning with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

The auditor will also play a pivotal role in continuous improvement initiatives, identifying areas for enhancement within the audit function.

Determines compliance with laws, regulations and operating procedures. Evaluates the adequacy of procedures for safeguarding assets and prevention and detection of loss.

Promotes the quality and efficiency of ongoing operations. This position requires the exercise of initiative, discretion and independent judgment, within the scope of the individual's authority, with respect to matters of significance to the Bank.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities :

• Lead and manage the internal audit quality assurance program to ensure audits are performed in accordance with internal audit standards and industry best practices.
• Develop and implement methodologies, tools, and procedures to monitor and assess the quality of internal audits.
• Conduct regular quality assessments of audit engagements, identifying areas for improvement.
• Ensure that all audit activities comply with regulatory requirements, professional standards, and internal policies.

• Coordinate with regulatory bodies during inspections and audits.
• Prepare and present detailed quality assurance reports to senior management and the Audit Committee.
• Communicate audit findings, quality issues, and recommendations for improvement to the internal audit team.
• Act as a key point of contact between the internal audit team and external auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
• Identify and implement best practices in audit quality assurance.
• Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the internal audit team.
• Lead initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of audit processes and methodologies.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the internal audit team.
• Foster a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
• Manage the performance and development of the audit quality assurance team.
• Work closely with the quality assurance team at head office to ensure alignment between audit activities and the bank's overall audit strategy.
• Assist in the identification and mitigation of risks associated with the audit function.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years experience in quality assurance, auditing, or a related field is often required, along with certifications such as Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or equivalent.
• Requires skills in fact-finding, analysis, problem-solving and decision making.
• Strong regulatory requirements and risk framework knowledge and other relevant guidelines governing credit, liquidity, interest rate and fiduciary risks.
• Advanced PC skills including working knowledge of TeamMate, Word and Excel
• Experience in creating process documentation, developing audit plans, and performing audits.
• Ability to plan, execute and evaluate audit test plans within a risk based audit methodology.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of internal controls, financial terminology and bank documentation requirements.
• Experience in assessing financial models and knowledge of testing effectiveness and recommending improvements.
• Ability to communicate with various levels of staff and management.
• Ability to manage scheduling and deadlines.

Licenses & Certifications :

CIA, CPA, CIFRS, or CISA or other relevant audit or risk certification is required.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field.
• Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field.
