Clinical Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education

The Department of Teaching and Learning within the Boston University Wheelock College of Education and Human Development invites applications for a full-time position as Clinical Assistant Professor in Early Childhood Education to start on July 1, 2025.

We seek candidates whose work expands the existing expertise of the current faculty in early childhood education, with a focus on policy, advocacy, teaching, learning, and research in early childhood education and well-being that will influence the national dialogue on effective educational practices and policies in early childhood education and well-being.

We are interested in candidates with scholarly, clinical, and teaching experiences related to anti-racist, anti-bias, and culturally sustaining practices.

The successful candidate will have 3 5 years of teaching experience in higher education settings, and be able to teach courses in the Leadership, Policy, and Advocacy for Early Childhood Wellbeing program, and in the teacher preparation program in Early Childhood Education, both at the graduate level.

In addition, applicants should be able to collaborate with faculty across the college, as well as serve as a mentor for graduate students in the broader Department / College.

Early Childhood Education program area members teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses, advise students, devote time to doing research and provide service to the university and profession.

Additionally, in line with the BU Wheelock Guidestar, the clinical applicant will be expected to participate in program and course improvement and development that diversifies the student body, increases enrollment, and broadens the coursework and scope of the programs to meet the goals of the BU Wheelock strategic plan.

Responsibilities

  • Teach graduate-level courses related to early childhood policy, advocacy, leadership, and well-being, as well as early childhood education.
  • Supervise graduate students in policy, advocacy and leadership field placements.
  • Mentor students in both early childhood policy, advocacy and leadership program, and early childhood education program, and collaborate with existing research projects led by faculty in the College and University.
  • Disseminate research findings to early childhood professionals and at meetings of local and national professional organizations.
  • Be an engaged citizen in providing service to the department, college / university, professional organizations and the profession.

This position begins 07 / 01 / 2025.? Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Policy and Advocacy, or related field
  • Minimum three years of teaching experience in higher education on topics related to early childhood policy, research and advocacy, and / or early childhood education.
  • Experience conducting and disseminating research to educators.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supervision experience in higher education
  • Experience as a mentor of graduate and undergraduate students in early childhood programs
  • Experience in PreK- 2nd grade settings.
