Job Description Summary :

Draper's Guidance, Navigation, and Control business area delivers beyond state of the art Positioning, Navigation, and Timing capabilities critical for National Security missions in contested environments.

We are on a growth path to expand our customer set and product offerings to rapidly develop, produce, and field Advanced PNT solutions.

We are seeking a product manager to lead our advancement of celestial navigation systems for tactical applications. The product manager will define and implement the product strategy, develop recommendations for investment needs, develop a product roadmap and influence the company's technology roadmap to align future needs to company investments.

The product manager will lead the development of production strategies and work with internal and external organizations to establish needed production capabilities, partnerships, marketing and licensing opportunities.

The successful candidate :

  • Demonstrates deep knowledge in one or more technical disciplines related to Draper's critical capabilities
  • Possesses a background in the development of advanced positioning, navigation, and / or timing solutions.
  • Understands customer needs and is able to synthesize solutions to their problems and incorporate their needs into technology, product roadmaps and marketing plans
  • Demonstrates ability to consistently deliver products exceeding customer expectations
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills (e.g., develops a vision, communicates to achieve alignment, motivates teams, delivers results, maintains accountability), enabling him / her to lead tasks of significant complexity
  • Ensures execution of all duties aligned with Draper processes and common best business practices
  • Demonstrates highly developed communication skills, both in written and oral forms; clearly communicates with sponsors, management and peers

Job Description :

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing complex programs that may involve managing fixed price contract with high dollar volume or contract length.
  • Oversees program budget and schedules.
  • Responsible for program growth
  • Responsible for marketing new technology or follow* on business acquisition.
  • May be responsible for business development within current customer base and / or for new customers.
  • Responsible for program execution including interfacing with customers
  • Coordinating successful execution of programs with internal stakeholders.
  • Ensures contractual deliverables are completed on schedule and within the approved budget.
  • Support Program Directors, Business Area Leads, and Senior Program Managers in the development of internal products and provide recommendations for research and development.
  • Develop technical program management best practices and provide training / mentoring to project teams
  • Monitors dependencies across multiple inter* related technical projects to adhere to methodologies, budgets, and timing
  • Gather and report consolidated technical project status and financial information to leadership
  • Recommends changes to improve processes and alleviate process inaccuracy and duplication.

Skills / Abilities

  • Program and project management skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and / or new applications.
  • Knowledge and proven track record of successful business interaction.
  • Ability to be persuasive and a strong relationship builder.
  • Possess excellent communications, presentation and networking skills.
  • Ability to travel on an as needed basis.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications : Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or equivalent discipline required.

Experience

  • 5-7 years program related experience in functional or program management.
  • Experience in program related area with functional or program management. Aerospace systems and program experience is preferred.
