Certified Officers - New hires who have graduated from a Colorado Police Academy but have less than one year of experience as a Police Officer start at $39.
69 per hour. They will also receive 40 hours of paid time off upon hire.
Lateral Entry Officers -Officers who are fully certified in another state (or certain federal law enforcement agencies), and have served for a minimum of one year within the last three years qualify for Provisional certification and start at $39.
69- $49.14 per hour. Lateral Officers must receive their Provisional letter prior to beginning employment.They will receive 40 hours of paid time off upon hire, a $10,000 hiring bonus upon completion of the Field Training Officer Program with a signed two (2) year commitment to the Grand Junction Police Department.
Duties
What You'll Do :
- Patrol assigned areas within City limits
- Respond to radio dispatch calls for service
- Perform preliminary investigations at scenes
- Prepare citations and summonses
- Make arrests and transport individuals
- Appear in court to offer testimony relative to the investigation of incidents
- Prepare a variety of reports and records
- Offer assistance to citizens

Qualifications
This position is a safety sensitive position, which means you will be subject to random drug screens due to the nature of the work performed. What We're Looking For :
- Good physical condition
- Minimum of 21 years of age, as of date of hire
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, valid Colorado driver license
- Good moral character (past criminal activity may be disqualifying see notice below)
- Ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Colorado POST Certified or the ability to obtain a Colorado POST Provisional Certification
